Close, it means "lost’. Which I only know from reading The Hundred and One Dalmatians. (The eighteenth dalmatian, after Pongo, Missus, and their 15 puppies, was a liver spotted Dalmatian which Mrs. Dearly nearly ran over with her car. She had just had her own puppies taken away, so they brought her home to help Missus nurse the pups, and they named her Perdita 'cause she was lost. Her pups were also found in Cruella’s custody at Hell Hall, and rescued with all the others, making 100. The hundred and oneth dalmatian, incidentally, was Perdita’s husband, Prince. )
But the name was invented by Shakespeare, to describe an abandoned (“lost”) baby in “The Winter’s Tale”.

I should bookmark this thread for the next time I need to name something. I like almost all of these.
Tamora was Queen of the Goths in Shakespeare’s Titus Andronicus: she ended up unknowingly eating a pie made out of her sons - after which she got shown their severed heads - as part of Titus’ revenge for their having raped his daughter Lavinia and cut off her hands and tongue. Titus then stabbed both his daughter and Tamora, whereupon he himself got stabbed. And you don’t get much more Goth than that.
heh, Nice.
Okay, thank you!
How about Wodensday to be different.
It looks like people have first names covered, but I do have a surname suggestion - Loveless. When I was in college I knew someone with that last name, and I was always faintly surprised she wasn’t a goth

I like the classics.
Back in the day of prime gothdom (the eighties), the most goth lass I ever went out with was called Bobbi. That was her real name - who knows where her sixties mother got that name from! I got my left-hand pinky stuck in one of Bobbi’s nipple rings the first time we slept together. EEEK! Gingerly sorted out with an ice cube.
On that note:
Ophelia
Maeve (pronounced May-ev)
Bathsheba
Delilah
Or:
Erzebet (As in Countess Bathory)
Hedwig
Helwise
Jezebel
Jane
Alice
Petunia?
Pennyroyal would be cool.
Nightshade (don’t call her cherry tomato).
And Seven is a man’s name!
My brother named his cat Torment.
Cat name, goth girl name, what’s the difference? It works, right?
If she read “Carpe Jugulum”, she might go for Lacrimosa.
Ambergris
or is that more punk?
I would think that would make it worse.
If she wanted to blend in, she could be an invisi-goth. Ok, that was bad.
I vote for Madea or Pandora.
