Names some films with famous spoilers

Did he like the movie?

Excuse me, that should be “the 2001 movie with Nicole Kidman.” Nicole would’ve been too young for the role if it had been made in 1981.

I don’t know. Which Bond film do you refer to? Several of them have twists that break the formula in some way, and would be a spoiler if revealed.

Sleepaway Camp?

The twist in the Bond film I am talking about would be the one that leaps to mind for virtually everyone who’s seen it, but for the benefit of those that haven’t seen them all, I shall blur, so be warned…

Bond dies!

I haven’t seen, or have forgotten the spoiler in, some of these films. Could someone summarize (in blurred form) in a very few words the essence of the spoiler in Fatal Attraction, The Sting, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, The Prestige, Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? Seven, The Maltese Falcon or Shutter Island?

Per the negotiation we already saw, guys with guns and badges (a) swoop in right after Paul Newman and Robert Redford pull off their big con, to (b) explain that the FBI will now bust Newman thanks to help from Redford. With a betrayed look, Newman pulls a gun on Redford and fires before a gun-and-badge type does likewise to Newman. At the sight of all that blood, the guy Redford and Newman had just separated from his money gets hustled away from the scene by a local cop — who’d been hunting Redford but now figures that’d no longer make sense. The End.

No, not The End: Redford and Newman faked their deaths; that isn’t real blood, those weren’t real bullets, the FBI was never here, the win for Best Picture ensues.

When I first saw the movie in the theater in 1973, and the thing you describe in the first paragraph happened, my head positively exploded.

One of the great moments in movie history!

I think there are two in Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

One being that Judge Doom is in fact the crazy toon that dropped a piano on Eddie Valiant’s partner’s head, and the other being that Marvin Acme’s missing will wasn’t really missing at all, it had been written in disappearing-reappearing ink and Roger had written his love letter to Jessica on the same piece of paper and was carrying it around with him the whole time.

The Prestige has two as well…

One, that Angier’s clone has effectively been murdered each time he performs his trick (or is it not the new clone???), and two that Borden is in fact identical twin brothers, with the other brother assuming the identity of Fallon

What’s the spoiled thing in Blade Runner? That Rachel is a Replicant?

Because they never say that Deckard is one.

And, as we’ve hashed out often enough on this Board, I don’t believe he is, either. If he had been, Ridley Scott would’ve been complaining that very summer that nobody “got” the real point of his movie. And he didn’t. Didn’t mention a word of it until decades later, after he added the “unicorn dream” sequence that wasn’t in the original release.

The two main characters are actually a doctor and patient performing a role-play exercise to help the patient recover his true persona.

Damage (1992)

Titanic. Yeah, most people know the boat sinks. I’m talking about dropping the necklace in the ocean at the end.

THE BOAT SINKS? BUT IT’S UNSINKABLE! :astonished:

I was never sure if Old Rose deliberately dropped the jewel or not. The thought that kept going through my head was Great, now that rich Texan is going to go find it and live even larger.

Brasil
Primal Fear

Clue

Twelve Monkeys. Both the fact the virus was released by Dr Peters not Goines, and the fact that actually it was released by Goines in the original timeline (as seen in Cole’s childhood memories) but Coles actions changed that so it was released by Dr Peters.

Such a good movie.

And the fact that the boy and the shooting victim at the airport are both Cole.

And that those in charge in the future made sure that it happened.
