I was IM’ing lel yesterday evening, and she gave me an idea for a thread. We were talking about names you wish people would call you, and she said that she wished people would call her L. It’s not going to screw up any vanity searches she might do, since she can’t do any on her username anyways. (it being only three letters long) I don’t think she said why she wanted people to call her that.
She also mentioned that she wanted other Dopers to call me Flaming Hamster Z. It sounded like a band name and a drink name, she continued. Versatility is great, I suppose, but Flaming Hamster Z?!? I guess since it combines elements of Flamsterette_X amd Hamster_X (her other name for me), it’s all right. I don’t care if you do call me that, by the way, but it sort of seems like an inside joke between lel and myself. She thinks that Flaming Hamster Z will screw up my vanity searches… that’s as it may be, but F_X will screw them up even more, since that can’t be searched for. Oh well… shrugs good-naturedly
For myself, though… I wish other Dopers (or people in general) would call me (in addition to my username and variants thereof):

Oh, and I don’t care if you call me F_X… sometimes I call myself that in my emails to various Dopers around here. (you know who you are) There’s no point making a big deal of the fact that it can’t be searched for, after all. It’s just one of the facts of life around here, and I accept it. No problem for me, at any rate.

If I didn’t say so before, the proposed nicknames could be in addition to and/or instead of what people call you now. I don’t care if you call me those nicknames I want for myself, or the variants of Flamsterette_X that seem to be creeping around the boards. Just don’t call me anything inflammatory, and we’ll get along fine, okay?
I think it would be easy to just type FlamX. For me, at least.

Dumb bitch, bitch, c*nt, asshole, jerk…depending on how pissed off the person is, whoever I flamed or insulted or flicked off.
…and I doubt anyone would do a search on my name anyway.
Virtually everybody I’ve met in person from the boards calls me “Jack” in casual conversation.
It was to the point where if I were walking down the street, I’d turn for somebody calling out, “Hey Jack,” as readily as somebody calling out, “Hey Mike.”
But you can call me “Man-Beast, Supreme Ruler with a Twelve Inch Penis.” That’s got a nice ring to it.
I am very fond of erl. Bak in the days when my name was ayrandlover, Collounsbury called me arl which makes its own sense. After the transition, el just didn’t have the same pinache. So erl it is, morphed from arl but not exactly of the same form.
I have always considered it pronounced “Earl”. I am not fond of the name “Earl” but I am fond of “Erl”. That they sound the same is of no consequence.
