NaNoWriMo is coming

Or we could abuse you until you do it. That might be more effective.

I have to finish typing stuff up. I only need less than 4000 words, so I might be done (but I kind of doubt it).

I had a few days like that - I told myself I was ‘Planning. Yes, that’s the ticket; Planning!’

You can do it, especially now you are are refreshed!

You too, Silver Tyger. Type like a typey thing.

My problem at the moment is the looooonnnggg pauses in my dictation as I thought. But only 1000 words to go and at least 40 minutes.

How is everyone doing? Just stopped in to wave some pom poms around. You can do it!

Finished. 50187 words, although I’d like to add another 3000 to make up for cheating.

The story that I wanted to finish, I actually worked the least on of the major things. That’s kind of annoying, but I’m going to keep it a priority and try to finish it in the next couple of months (I did about 45000 words on it last year).

60,649 at this point, and still two local write-ins to go, (sort of, counting our Waffle-palooza last day part tomorrow.)

I still want to write a few thousand more on the new ‘Missing Gnomes’ project. Tentative goal: 64,000

52000, have plotted out the last two chapters and will have the time to write them from this afterneen (final day here - but heading into work).

Heh. Such an eager beaver.

But no need! I typed “THE END” at just before 2 a.m, and revalidated just for the hell of it – just a hair past 59k.

Then I made my traditional “I WON” donation.

Hey, it’s better for them that I wait. I am more generous when I’m super happy.
Edited to add: THREE ‘justs’ in a single sentence. Nano had not been kind to my self-editing skills.

Just got over 50,000 mere minutes ago.

Not quite done with the novel itself, but I’m over 50k!

Woot.

Checking in at the eleventh hour…

I really couldn’t face losing a second year in a row so I have soldiered on with my (awful) novel. I hit 44,000 at lunch time, my goal is 3K tonight and finish up tomorrow. I’ve won the first three years and always got done by the 25th or so but I didn’t really have a good idea this year so my “novel” consists of one false start then 3 rewrites of the first chapter and possibly two alternate endings. It’s so bad that it’s the only Nano novel I’ve password protected because I would DIE if anyone actually read it.

Hey all! (waves the pompoms. There ARE enough for everybody, right? 66,516 words! We can all get there! Yay!

And here it is:

30 Days of NaNo, 30 Covers of Anisefics: Sex and the Single Devil 9

I REALLY like this one. It was based on a 1950’s (I think) cover for a classic Alan Hayden pulp fic, and it required a lot of work.

Congrats to those who have crossed the finish line! I’m going to set some chocolate and wine down over here for those who haven’t quite yet. Come and get it!

My edit/mashing is 33,500 words so far. Fun times.

Love your synopsis, especially the first line - really grabs your attention. Way to go, and congrats on winning!!

Speaking of which…I’M DONE!!! 50,462 words, having started fresh on November 1st with NO plot whatsoever.

It wasn’t always pretty, it wasn’t always fun, but after, oh, four years of talking about it, I FINALLY completed a NaNoWriMo. So worth it.

My story…well, it got very silly at the end. I got to that point where I just had to keep going, come hell or high water. It’s not something I think I’ll show people, and I’m not even sure it’s something worth editing. But the experience did what NaNo is supposed to do: it made it seem feasible, and made it feel like I can do this again, but better.

How’s everyone else doing? Keep going, guys - you can make it!!

Yay! Another winner! We sure have a lot of them here. Great job, Rodgers01!

Thanks.

Well done *all *the winners, keep going everyone else.

Fixing the story is part of the edit process, or next year’s nano - I wouldn’t worry about it seeming silly at this point. This was my third attempt at this story, I’m glad I’ve persevered, even though it meant tossing out over 100 thousand words where it went wrong. There’s one scene that’s survived all the rewrites, almost recognisably. There’s one more that was part of the orginial plan and will make it back in over the weekend.

Technically you’re supposed to start a new project, but I know plenty of people who’ve added 50k to the workable stuff they already had. And there’s a ton of similar-to-nano sites out there so you can pick any month and go for it all over again if the structure helps (as it does for me).

There’s also Camp Nanowrimo, which is two sessions in the summer.

Congrats to all the winners!

You know, I’d really like to keep thise daily writing habit going.

Ideally I’d like Scrivener to open up at start up, sort of staring me in the face, you know?

But not at every start up, just the first one each day, and I don’t know how to do it. Putting it in the startup list would do it every time. Putting it on the task list would start if just once each day, but sometimes I sleep late, and if I haven’t booted the computer before the scheduled time, it won’t run.

Tis a dilemma.

Did somebody say chocolate! I can have VIRTUAL chocolate!

Okay, I have an idea…

Does anyone have a DecNoWriMo for novels that now have 50,000 words, but just aren’t complete by the end of November? (I suspect this would cover a LOT of writers who did NaNo.) Because I think that would be a great idea!

Okay, so I reached my 64k goal, and I’m sitting in a coffee shop with four fellow wrimos - I think four of us have won, and the fifth is pleased to have reached 10k.

First snowfall of the season has hit this part of Ontario, with a surprising amount of disruption to traffic, so everybody had their tales of how long they had to travel to get here. Some people didn’t get to Burlington, and have set up a shadow Wafflepalooza back in Hamilton on the pier.

Great memories to end Nanowrimo with. I think I’m about ready to brave the roads home soon, but I’m waiting until a friend of mine reaches her personal goal of like eight zillion words.

For Anise: National Novel Finishing Month.
