NaNoWriMo is coming

I cheated a little bit. I found a notebook that had stuff from Camp Nanowrimo that had never gotten typed up and typed that. That’s not the cheating part (well, it is, but I don’t care about that). One of them was a comic script (that I’m still missing a few scenes from  ). Instead of just counting the stuff I typed up today, I threw it all in the validator.

I’ve got four pages that I wrote last night to type up still. I’m at almost 33.5k, 7k from today (admittedly probably half of that is from the script).

I have some smoothing over to do between the stuff I wrote for Camp Nano and the stuff I wrote this month (I had forgotten about it and wrote stuff for the same time span, but the old stuff is better).

Hit 30,000 words today - woohoo! Twice in the past week I got behind for a day, and I’m going to try to NEVER let that happen again, because the deficit adds up so quickly.

I was able to catch up today by abandoning the semi-serious plot I had and getting a little silly. It was a little painful; I had to take some time to mourn; but I think it was good. It made me far more productive than I have been. The 3,000+ words I had to write today flowed very quickly once I (mostly) stopped caring. Losing the battle of taking the book really seriously will help me win the war of actually writing the damn thing.

…Though at this point, I’m sure that’s not going to be a problem. Can’t get this far and quit now! How’s everyone else holding up? Keep going!!!

I did the same thing, fell behind and had a massive catch up.

I’ve completed todays word count (and it’s morning of the 19th here) but I’m at an awkward transition point where the least affected character has to drive the narrative for a while.

I got up to par last night for the first time this month, and today I did almost 3400! Yay me.
Of course, I’ll like get complacent and not write anything at ll tomorrow. :frowning:

I’m almost up to 39,000 words and, after writing some real crap the past few days, I feel like I did some solid writing today. Tomorrow at this time, I’m sure I’ll hate it/myself again.

Hey, I just reached 50k about an hour ago. First to cross the finish line at the big ‘Night of Writing Dangerously’ event in San Francisco!

CONGRATULATIONS!! :D:p;) Were the last two words “The End”, or are you still tying things together?

Cheers and throws confetti
Then sulks off to carry on typing another 18300 words.

Yay! You’re awesome! I hate you!

So, it didn’t even take me 24 hours to hate myself again. I’m suddenly in that panicky moment where I don’t think I have enough plot to get me to 50k. I’m going to wind up at 48,000, I can feel it.

That’s easy to fix. Run back and add a description to each conversation;

There you go, 33 extra words above the ‘he said/she replied.’ business.
this is not part of my story. I made it up just now to be silly.*
**But I’ve just realised it would fit.

How are people doing?

I haven’t gotten much written over the past five or so days. I think I have maybe five pages to type up. But I’m at 36k and with a four day weekend I should be able to make it up. I’m thinking of pulling an all-nighter one night, but we’ll see.

Here’s a tidbit for all the hard-working nanotes: http://thepunchlineismachismo.com/

Write whatever comes to mind…but don’t be Jonesy. :stuck_out_tongue: (Also, don’t go on an archive binge. Save it for next month.)

50,001 words two nights ago, about 9:00 on the 19th. . Just too busy to get on this board any earlier! (another cover later on, too)

Congratulations, Anise!

Let’s see, I’m sitting at 43,375 at the moment. Should be able to knock out a couple thousand words today and I’m considering doing an endurance writing session tonight since I don’t have to work tomorrow and my husband won’t be home.

I’m to the point of the story where I just want to give up. I need more plot, so I’m outlining to add a subplot or two, and POV switching between the two main characters. I keep adding lines to the outline that I have no idea how I’ll pull off. Why am I writing a romance again?

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I am still hanging in there, though I have to write another 1,900 words tonight to be caught up to the daily allotment. I am stalled in my story and nearly want to tear my hair out. Last time I got to this point I just went kinda silly and it worked, so I should probably just get myself back to that point again…

37000, still just ever so slighty ahead.

I’m aiming to hit the 50K early this weekend and finish the story by Nov30.

You need to give a character amnesia, so you can spend lots of words on other characters telling them things they should already know.

Thanks! (to everybody. Waves the Happy 50,000 Word Flag. Take one, there are lots to go around!) We really should get a big cake… and because it’s a virtual cake, I can have chocolate.

And yellowval, it’s because romance is compelling! (Any NC-17 scenes? You could always write a few more of those.

No, there’s plenty of secrets to go around, so that’s fine.

I’m having a hard time getting to the part where where they can do that. I need more plot.
