I never would have guessed the actor who plays Gunnar would have such a thick British accent.
Yeah, I knew the woman who plays Scarlett was a furriner, but didn’t realize he was as well. Weird.
Have they officially gotten renewed? They seem to be setting up some interesting story lines – Will and Layla’s reality show, what Scarlett’s going to do next, etc. – for next season.
So – is Scarlett going to go away as a character?
I don’t think we’re that lucky.
Yeah, looks like they’re backpedaling on Scarlett leaving. Is the actress’s contract up for renewal? Maybe they haven’t decided.
Much better cliffhanger(s) than last year’s car crash – the Rayna love triangle is spelled out, Juliette’s fling comes out, Will comes out … I’m looking forward to next season.
Finally watched the season finale last night…
I agree, but I’m kind of bored with all of these already (which is how much I didn’t care for the car crash). Scarlett needs to just leave town, Raina needs to slap Deacon’s face and go marry Luke, and Avery needs to forgive Juliette (though I know that one’s not as obvious). The only thing I’m vaguely interested in is what’s going to happen to Will – both professionally and personally – after he gets outed on national TV, but I don’t want to have to see how his wife (what’s her name?) handles everything. I don’t like that character, and the writers can’t seem to decide if she’s a devious bitch (start of the season) or completely naive (now).
All of that said, though, I still love this show. ![]()
As did I!
Country Soap be still a good deal of fun. I don’t want Scarlett to leave as she’s the best singer on the show - just give her better plots or something. Maybe the actress can come back as Scarlett’s even twin… yah, I like it! ![]()
The season finale was a bizarre train wreck. It jumped all over the place! I can’t imagine how much material was left on the editing floor. Given last week’s odd “Meet the actors” episode, my WAG is that something prevented the real episode from being aired, so they threw together that odd episode, and then had to condense two weeks of material into one.
Yikes, I knew the show was good for tourism (especially if you own the Bluebird Café), but that’s quite a generous package. I wonder what percent of the show’s budget it is, and if it had any impact on the show’s renewal.
Wow, do we disagree: I think she’s the worst singer on the show.
I think all of the men are better singers than the women, but of the women I think Juliette has the best voice. I have a hard time listening to Scarlett!
Skammer - Last year we gave them $13 million, I think. And the shows producers were threatening to take the filming to Georgia or Texas (!) (Georgia at least shares a similar geography). So I think the show would’ve gone on regardless, but it just insured the filming would stay here.
StG
Yeah, last year was 13M and they wanted to only give them 5M this year, so 8M is not a surprising compromise. Apparently most of the non-actors on the show, both crew and musicians, are locals, so a lot of it goes right back into the economy anyway.
I’m bored with the subject matter of all the cliffhangers, with the possible exception of Will’s.
-the love triangle (Rayna, Deacon, Luke);
-the Juliette/Avery love problems;
-the Gunnar/Scarlett rekindled love issues;
-the Gunnar/Zoe love issues; and
-Maddie’s “I wanna be a performer” issues (snore).
They’re squeezing every last drop out of the relationship thing and it’s dull.
Yeah, but luckily the playing out of the plotlines always happens in hyperdrive, so they’ll wrap most of these up in the season premiere and we can move on.
I like the idea of Will’s story, but wow is that boy dumb. (There are people filming in his house. Of course, they have cameras in the bedroom and bathroom. And even if they didn’t, they had microphones right on the other side of the door. You know where they don’t have cameras? On the corner at the end of the street. How much thought does it take to walk outside before you make a phone call and/or come out to your wife?). Also, they really don’t know what they’re doing with the wife. She started out smart, savvy, all-about-eve-ish (annoying, but still someone who knows what she wanted) and now she’s Scarlett, part II. When he did say that he was gay, she looked panicked. The girl we saw when she first showed up would have said “duh” and then explained how she planned on using that to get her recording career back on track.
I think I’m supposed to like Luke a little bit more than I do. Don’t know if it’s the acting or the writing, but he’s an ass. (He was also an ass on Smash, when he was also supposed to be the complicating member of a love triangle and he couldn’t pull of being even remotely sympathetic there, either. Of course, on SMASH, it was absolutely the writing.)
I know I’m supposed to like Scarlett more than I do, but the actress just grates on me. I do not care if she goes.
The only thing I am wondering about now is how Jeff Fordham still has a job. Has he done anything positive for Edgehill Records or is he just continuous driving the label into the ground to further his evil hijinks?
I don’t think we were supposed to think that Will was ever all that intelligent. So him being an idiot about the cameras is just in character.
Jeff Fordham’s job is a bit of a mystery - his two top talents leave and he still has a job? How? Is he blackmailing the board? Though I guess he has done ONE thing positive and that’s take Will Lexington from Highway 65.
