I too love my 3/4 length cargoes (except in this Melbourne weather we’re having at the moment). But there is no way I would wear them with heels. Actually, I don’t wear heels at all, under any circumstances, so that’s not an issue for me.
I don’t really care about the 3/4 length pants but I hated the tops when they became popular. It became difficult to find a nice top with short sleeves or full sleeves. I’d get my hopes up time and time again, only to fully lift the top in question to get a better look and realize the stupid thing didn’t have proper sleeves. And knitted sweaters should never have 3/4 length sleeves!
Eventually I broke down and bought a 3/4 length top. I end up shoving the sleeves up to my elbows because otherwise I pull at it, subconsciously trying to correct it and bring it to my wrist.
Well, here’s a close approximation to the boots. http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/509914/c/430.html I couldn’t go through the pain of finding the J.Lo picture.
What you’re picturing is probably pretty accurate.
This eBay auction has a couple of pictures of JLo in the boots. In the main photos she’s wearing them with what appears to be a rug with buttons, but if you look at the background, there’s a picture of her with the boots tucked into her cargos.
I like 3/4 pants as long as they’re form fitting or tailored. I’m tall, so the the roomy cargo kind just make my long legs look silly. When your pants look as though they really have shrunk in the wash it’s not generally a good look IMO…As for casual capris with high heels…Bah! Nooo!
Ye gods what a hideous woman she is! Those boots, ack!
According to the Star, Ben wants JLo to stop dressing like a skanky ho.
FTR, I like capri pants, and wear them almost exclusively in summer. (I don’t like shorts.) Old Navy makes a low-waisted straight-leg capri that was made for me.
But then again, I’m not much for cutting-edge fashion; I think the satin cargo 3/4 capri pant is very cute if you can get away with it…but that’s most trends. I’m just not a gal who can wear satin. I’m not particularly trendy at all; I know what looks good on me and I buy a lot of it, wherever I can find it. If it’s in fashion, that’s great. If it isn’t… I’m not the gal who really cares.
Anybody ever read those “Fashion Q&A’s” in magazines where women write in and say stuff like, “What can I do with last year’s knee-length denim skirts to update them for this year?”
I find that fascinating. There are women out there who actually worry about that. If I like last year’s denim skirt I’ll be damned if I modify it to make it more “this season.” If it looks good on me I’m gonna wear it til it falls apart. Glamour be damned.
Those high-heeled “work” boots (I think we all know the kind of work that would involve those boots) aren’t too bad - take the heel down three inches, widen the toe box so my poor little toes can actually fit in it, and I would wear them.
(Audrey, I’m so with you on the “fashion vs. what looks good on me issue.” I know what looks good on me - when it’s in style, great, when it isn’t, I still look good.)
I love the 3/4 pants, whether they are fitted or wide…and I wear them with heels! Now before ya’ll call the fashion police on me, I’m not talking about four-inch FM heels, I’m talking about two-and-a-half-inch sandals or mules with semi chunky heels or wedges, depending on how casual the pants are. They are terrific work wear here in Florida where it’s too warm for hose in the summer and usually too cold in an air-conditioned office for bare legs. I think the satin 3/4 cargos are really cute on the right figure. Oh, and I can never fine a full length sleeve that actually doesn’t hang over my hand so bring on the 3/4 sleeve sweaters!
The reason JLo’s outfit sucks are the pants, not the shoes.
- I think the picture is stretched horizontally.
- The pants start TOO LOW! At her widest part (the hips)! And they have a horizontal belt. At her widest part!
- As if it’s not bad enough, they have pockets which stick out. On the hips!
- The lower parts of the pants is too wide. That makes them look boxy, and her legs as long as she is wide.
Who saw silky cargo capris? What do you think of them? My first reaction was “Wtf?” err, “How original!” (On second hand, they explains the very existense of silky clown caps made the way leather caps were done this winter.)
Two words: tube tops. I have NEVER seen a woman on whom a tube top looked even halfway decent. It just makes me wince every time I see somebody wearing one.
Oh, and those stupid layered baby-tees/tank tops they’re showing in trendy shop windows. What’s up with that? Don’t designers realize that two layers of fabric gets hot in summer- especially in SoCal, where I’m seeing this? :dubious:
Another fashion crime- those jeans that are underdyed brown and then deliberately faded. They look permanently grimy.
On capris… some people like them, some don’t. I like them, since I have yet to tame my thunderthighs. However, I would not wear heels with capris. (Actually, I avoid heels whenever possible… I’m a sandal sort of gal.)
Well, obviously plenty of people in the States like the capri pants, at least on some women. I agree with Quantum Butterfly on tube tops, they’re indefensible.
I can’t stand those super dark (and often super-tight) blue jeans that have been sandblasted on the backside. It makes the wearer look as if she spent the morning sliding down stairs on her rear end, and is especially ridiculous when accompanied by one of those ruffled midriff shirts with the 3/4 length sleeves.
Oh, the jeans that are popular now - I’m in need of a new pair of jeans, and am having a really hard time finding a pair that is just your basic jean - not grimy-looking, flared, low-rider, or with some ridiculous faux wear-pattern. And just for the record, I’m looking in the mature lady stores, not the young hottie stores!
I love the 3/4 trousers, but high heels are the devil’s playthings.
