National Guard resources detailed to rescue Congressman's personal property

How in the hell could you possibly know if more people could’ve been rescued elsewhere? Are you guys clairvoyant now, or something? Give me a fucking break.

Look, I don’t condone the man’s self-centeredness in retrieving his personal belongings, it was a dickhead thing to do – I said that. But don’t go making shit up just to be a contrary ass. The soldier interviewed said a LOT of people were “rescued” who otherwise wouldn’t have been. Rescued, as in ‘had to be saved’. What makes you think you’re in a better position to judge the severity of their circumstances than the soldiers on the scene? The water was up to the third step of the Congressman’s house – that doesn’t mean it wasn’t at a more dangerous level down the hill and across the street from him. And it doesn’t make being surrounded hip deep by toxic water any less life-threatening.

Absolutely. Were the same person a Republican, we’d already have three threads about him being a puppy-kicking, baby-pinching sweat-shop owning shit heel who only visited the district to make sure his illegal alien workers were still making dogshit grabbers, in the dark, under 5 feet of water. Tell me again why I should take many of the left on this board seriously?

Well I qualified it with a “most likely” and I’ll stand by it. The helo spend 45 precious minutes orbiting the site not rescuing anybody.

Cuz we’ve a track record of being right about things.

Lets hear your outrage over this:
Secretary of State Forces Detailed to Presidential Potty Break

Why should we take you seriously, when you post such complete nonsense as this? I have come to absolutely loathe this type of argument (If X, then liberals would do Y). Apparently all you can do to form an argument is make up bullshit. You have any number of liberal/Democratic people in this thread condemning this guy’s actions, despite his party affiliation.

As another counter-example, Randy “Duke” Cunningham has proven himself to be one of the dirtiest motherfuckers around, is a Republican, and has had not one single thread dedicated to him on this board. He has only gotten passing mention in a thread or two.

Try not to be so much of a whiny simpleton.

Oh, you people are WAY off course.
Did you not SEE the damage to his lawn fer crisake?
I’ve been there. Had a Town truck leave a crevice eighteen inches wide, and two inches deep during a snow storm.
Damage didn’t show up until the Spring.
Sonofa bitch! Had to scream at the Town Clerk for twenty minutes.
Does he know the Town will probably send a crew over with fill and grass seed?
Meby I should give him a call…

I’m sure several left leaning posters would have made a thread had one not existed. I didn’t see this thread and composed an OP myself.

Yeah, and in that closed thread, I posted this:

Yes, and let’s note that he’s a Democrat; I’m a Democrat, and I think he should be beaten about the nuts for this. OK? None of that closing ranks, spinning and taking care of our own shit.

But also, I have to ask, why would the National Guard do that for him? They should have told him to go climb up on the roof and wait like everyone else.

We have a ways to go; there’ll be many a tale of bad behavior to get up in arms about, across the ideological spectrum.

What I don’t understand about the right wing in general is the fact that they don’t want any accountability. The Republicans in congress blocked an independent investigation into the failures related to Katrina, and try to frame a search for accountability as the “blame game”.

I’m a proud liberal leftie. Bring on all the investigations, and nail those responsible, whether they be Democratic or Republican. Country before party, and all that…something the GOP doesn’t seem to get.

Bite me. Next time, look at the context in which the statement was made.

Yeah, I think the crux of it, is our “me me me” society is reflected on a macro scale as “party before country”. I see it on both sides, but honestly I see it on the right more. Perhaps because they’re in power at the moment on currently “on defense”, but I would expect the same thing on the other side. I also think that Bush on his own is the most damaging pres to come down the pike. We could have anyone else in office, repub or dem, and I think we’d be a lot better off.

Well, for myself, I was just making a joke about the ‘democrat’ thing…while I find this board hopelessly partisan sometimes, its also filled with folks who can look beyond partisan politics and blast their own side when its warrented. Thats one of the reasons I come on this board in fact.

I noted that those who were blasting the congressman the most were those usually associated with the ‘lefty’ or ‘democrat’ factions on the board…I actually haven’t seen any of those generally associated with what constitutes ‘righties’ or ‘republican/conservatives’ joining in (with the exception of me of course  ) I was just pointing to the irony (well, it wasn’t that ironic, devils advocate that I am) of me defending this guy while those who are actually Democrats were attacking him…unfairly IMHO. If one reads the article and thinks about it non-politically and dispassionately, I think that a measure of slack can and should be cut for this guy. Now…he might very well have OTHER serious things to blast him on, maybe even about the storm…but not this IMO. YMMV and all that.

God you’re a fucking tool. The majority of the people who have been agreeing with you in this thread are folks of a liberal or left wing bent. Hell, i agree with you, which, given the complete idiocy you so often display on these boards, is a fucking miracle in itself. And World Eater, one of the strongest critics of the current Republican administration on these boards, started his own Pit thread about this guy before he knew about this one. And other leftists and liberals responded positively to that thread also.

You’re the sort of person who won’t “take many of the left on this board seriously” until they start agreeing unequivocally with everything you say.

Yeah, instead there are only two threads doing just that. God, we liberals are such hypocrites!

Wow, even in a thread where the “leftys” agree with danceswithcats, s/he still climbs onto the conservative cross. Astonishing. Do you get frequent flyer miles on the damn thing or something?

Context, Mr. Asshat. Go back to post #22. Read the words. Sound them out, perhaps getting a big person to help you. My response was to xtisme.

I’m well aware of the posts from left-leaning members and have had agreement with some of them in recent days in other threads over the Katrina related issues.

Thank you for admitting a momentary glimmer of wisdom by agreeing with me prior to stuffing your head back up your ass. Please don’t go out of your way again, as that measure of association with you makes me want to scrub.

Context? The context so far is that this thread turned to be exactly as I predicted, with the left rightly criticizing the congressman and you later admitting that the reason of the thread was to complain why the left does not criticize guys like that!

Someone here has his/her head back up his/her ass alright, but it is not mhendo.

Context? What is the context that explains exactly how you are not a douchebag? Please do clarify the contextual cues that I missed that should have made it clear you were not being a whiny simpleton.

I think GIGObuster nailed it in one - you posted this expecting to rail against the hypocrisy of the left. You just couldn’t bear that it didn’t play out like you thought it might.

Someone needs to learn what the fuck context means, and when it does and does not explain or justify total raving fucking lunacy. So what if your response was to xtisme? It was still out of all proportion to xtisme’s (obviously tongue-in-cheek) observation, and served no purpose except, presumably, to justify your own feelings of inadequacy.

Well, it’s inevitable that you’ll be right every so often. Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

Well, I will give the lefties credit - it took more than 24 posts before the thread changed ineluctably to tu quoques about Bush and attacks on the OP for bringing this up.

Shodan
