I rescue fishes when my creek dries up, usually Gabusia affini that go into the lotus pool. This year a found some Ozark Minnows flopping around. They are interesting active colorful aquarium fish, although one is become quite large, and difficult to net and move to the outdoor pool.
Do any Dopers keep native American fish in aquaria?
I don’t have any tanks right now, but my dad has kept American killifish for years. Especially Florida flags. Pretty little guys, and friendly too. Killies have the advantage of staying small, which makes them easy to keep. They go in his pond in summer and come inside during winter.
