Okay. That kind of rings a bell. Thanks.
Gotta say - I’m an idiot when it comes to travels. Buddy’ll come traipsing toward the net with what I thought were at least four or five steps, but no call. And then when there is a called travel, I’ll go “what?” and rewind to take another look, and even then I still might be scratching my head.
Even worse - double dribbles - I NEVER spot them. Even worse than that - a carry. HA! Even over and backs are sometimes called, sometimes not.(?)
Gary Trent Jr., I believe, is the only player in the NBA who helps himself up from the floor, instead of waiting for teammates to grab his hands.

Lonnie Walker IV single handedly saved the Lakers last night by scoring all 15 of his points in the 4th quarter.
I love it when a backup player gets a big moment to shine and show why he is in the NBA. Lebron James hugging him and complimenting him at the end was terrific as well. The Lakers are up 3-1 and this game was all about Lonnie Walker IV.
Agreed. I watched that game last night and even I (no notion of strategies, remember) was screaming, “feed the hot hand!” That was a pretty cool performance.
And Steph Curry put up quite possibly the worst shot I’ve ever seen him shoot with the game on the line.
17 seconds left, down 1, and he takes a 30-foot step back jumper?
Yeah Lonnie Walker IV had a great quarter! Darvin Ham is a genius for playing him. And then they fed him the ball, over and over while the Warriors got very little from their bench.
The Warriors, they be in some deep doo doo. Can they shovel themselves out of it?
The Warriors dodged a bullet there, in winning game 5. Even with the larger lead in the late 3rd / early 4th it was tense knowing the Lakers could easily close the gap.
In game 6 the Warriors are truly going to need Game 6 Klay to show up!
People just like him. A torn ACL ruined his shot at superstardom, but he’s kept trying and through sheer force of will remained, if not a superstar, a decent player for many years.
Congrats to the Lakers. They played great. And they are coming together nicely, just in time for a tough series against Denver.
It was nice to see LeBron play like LeBron. He’d been a little lackluster the last few games.
I find myself rooting for the Lakers for absolutely no known reason. I don’t follow NBA, but I know they had a rough start to the season and I guess I have heard LeBron is a pretty good guy.
Is that accurate? I don’t hear a lot of negativity towards him and I don’t mind wishing him well. Is Anthony Davis a guy with a good reputation?
I follow tennis, obviously an individual* sport, where personality more or less dictates who I want to win. I was a huge Federer fan even though I was initially less enthusiastic. Once I learned Roger is a great guy, I always cheered for him.
*even doubles is more about the personality of the two players. I rooted for the Bryan Brothers for years.
I was rooting for them to dethrone the Warriors, and was also rooting for them because of Austin Reaves, who began his college career playing for one of the teams I root for, the Wichita State Shockers. I’m finding it hard to believe that he has the skill set to play in the NBA, but he’s playing, and playing well.
In the next round, however, I will be rooting for the Nuggets.
Never heard of him, but he did average 13 points per game this year in an average of 28 minutes on the court. I mean, that is contributing for sure.
Reaves played especially well last night. He was a big reason why the Lakers won that game. He’s a tough, scrappy player.
In case you missed it:
Yes I saw it when it happened. Everything was going right for the Lakers, but that happens when you’re hustling, working hard, and playing as a cohesive team.
The Lakers could go deep in this postseason run. And that would cement LeBron’s legacy. Not that it needs additional cement.
It’s funny how the required skillset changes when you’re on the court with LeBron and AD. Not to diminish what he’s done for them, since obviously there’s still the possibility you get the opportunity and aren’t good enough, but it’s a really ideal landing spot. Must have been a hell of a phone call. Hey we’d like to offer you a 2-way contract. Also, if you make shots and defend enough, we do need someone to start at the 2 until LeBron retires or leaves to play with his son somewhere else. Let us know.
He was an undrafted FA when the Lakers signed him to that two-way contract in August of 2021. Obviously somebody saw something, or he impressed the shit out of LA when he worked out for them. He’s played two full seasons with them.
I watched him play four years in college, two at Wichita State and two at Oklahoma. He was a good shooter who could get really hot at times, a good ball-handler, and a decent defender. But there are 100 other guys like that in the NCAA, and I saw nothing special about him that indicated he would someday start for an NBA team.
Of course, I know next to nothing about what it takes to play in the NBA.
Calling a double technical when a Philly bench player interfered in a live play was horrible officiating. That should be an instant ejection and at least a couple free throws for the Celtics.
Yeah, that’s what I mean. Maybe he was the one of those hundred who got that call from the Lakers, and he stuck, and a lot of the other guys didn’t get the call, or got a call but didn’t get the same opportunity (he started and didn’t play very well to close out last year, when they were losing almost every night, but they stuck with him this season), or got the opportunity and didn’t make the most of it.
It could be that you weren’t wrong about him at all, and this is just how the cookie crumbled. Doesn’t take anything away from him, just a weird thing about life because we’ll never know.
