NBA 2022-23 Season

The Allstar Game is a total waste of time, as it’s not even really basketball. There is very little in the way of defense, and everyone is allowed to showboat to their heart’s content. This leads to ridiculous scores like last night’s 180+, and a high scorer getting 55 points. We watched the first quarter and were bored out of our minds.

Sure, all all-star games in all pro sports should be replaced by just simple voting, nothing more. Boom, jam done.
Oh but the families, amirite?

The T-wolves need at least ten more wins to even come close to a chance at the playoffs. Losing to a team like Charlotte (18-43) last night isn’t going to get them there.

How much longer do you think Lebron continue to play if he didn’t care about legacy or minutes or being a starter? Could a 45 year old Lebron be a 12th man? 50?

Holy crap, Damien Lillard had a huge game against Oklahoma, scoring 71 points and 13 threes. He’s now in a pretty elite crowd of players, tying some records and breaking others.

Donovan Mitchell had 71 points earlier this season. This marks the first time two different players have had 70-point games in the same year.

I wondered the same thing about Michael Jordan at the end of his career. How long could he have continued to be a contributing valid player on an NBA team? Past 50?

At least the Raptors have something to do now once the regular season ends!

It’s play-in time! The T-wolves play the Lakers tomorrow after narrowly beating New Orleans last night. Big to-do when Rudy Gobert punched Kyle Andrson, his own teammate, during a time out huddle. The coach benched him at the half-time break. WTF?

My old team, the Blazers, had a complete season melt-down. They benched all of the stars who weren’t already injured and had to call up players from the G-league in order to field a team. Pathetic. There’s something seriously wrong with the coaching on that team. They need to stop trying to be the players’ friends and start being leaders, or else find another profession.

So, not only was Gobert sent home, he’s suspended for tonight’s play-in game. Additionally, starting forward Jaden McDaniels, in a juvenile display of temper at having a foul called on him, punched a wall in the tunnel and broke his hand. So the moron is probably out for what’s left of the season. I fully expect the Wolves to lose tonight against the Lakers and probably again against the Pelicans.

Toronto has one game to beat Chicago on Wednesday. Fortunately, the game is in Toronto where they have won almost two-thirds. Mom’s spaghetti.

Looking good against the Bulls. The next game, if applicable, will be much tougher.

Maybe Toronto would’ve made more free throws if that child in the stands had been yelling “Get in the hole!”, instead of screaming like a banshee before each shot.

Even if all the players had ear infections, you’d think they coulda beat 60% on the free throws in a professional league. But if you can’t win with a 18 point cushion against Chicago at home, beating the Bucks is going to be almost impossible, especially since the Raptors away record is terrible…

Nick Nurse is done in Toronto. It was a terrible season, and someone has to pay.

Why the Raptors could play at home, much of the time, and do so badly on the road is still a mystery to me. Despite terrible free throwing they still should have won. I’m not saying they would have gone much further, even if Drake had showed up. I am ambivalent about whether Nurse stays; I like him but sometimes you gotta bring the meats.

A-HEM!

You know that was DeRozan’s daughter, right?

Fuckin funny as shit! (Spliced together highlight reel of the screeching. One minute ten seconds…)

On reconsideration I prefer Nurse stays and Drake doesn’t. I don’t need to tell you how personally involved I am with this high level decision…
