NBA 2023/24 Season

They were 2-1 and I have no idea who they beat, but since then, atrocious.

Got crushed by Washington just yesterday. Maybe they were still angry about that.

Oh great: now they’re good and pissed off for the game against MN tomorrow night. As if we didn’t have enough problems lately.

Wizards with a winning streak! Beat the Pistons the other day, and the Spurs last night. Way to beat up on the other two worst teams in the league, at least one of which will probably leapfrog you next season.

T-wolves managed to beat OKC and then demolished a diminished Dallas squad by 34 points. Doncic and Irving were out, as were several other players.

So it looks like currently Doc Rivers, who literally just got the job, is set to coach the East All Star team due to the Celtics coach being ineligible (I think because he coached them last year). As long as the Bucks remain in second place that is.

Makes perfect sense; after all, he’s got an 0-2 record as Bucks coach so far.

Orlando with a big win over Minny yesterday after being down quite a bit most of the first three quarters.

Yeah, I can’t believe these morons blew that game. That means Finch won’t be coaching the West all-star team.

Well, it was only a matter of time: Anthony Edwards was fined $40K for bad-mouthing refs. He was caught on a hot mic saying something like "Cheatin’ ass refs’ after the win over OKC. His histrionics about foul calls has gotten him in trouble before, and he has had a number of technicals called on him. He’s an amazing talent, but these sorts of juvenile outbursts detract from his performance. Grow up, dude.

Pretty sure it was a post game interview, so he specifically said it in public, not a hot mic.

He said several derogatory things in - I think - two interviews, but I was going by this article in the NYT:

“There was plenty of evidence to support the league’s stance. Edwards was caught on camera muttering “cheatin’ ass refs" immediately following the tense win over OKC. Then he made it a point to criticize the officiating in his postgame interview on camera and in subsequent interviews in the locker room after the game. So the fine was not a surprise.”

Timbermutts managed to blow a 22 point lead against the Bulls and lost by six in OT. And this was against a team that was missing a number of players. Cripes.

Detroit is 4-6 in their last ten, which while not being a lot to write home about is still a massive turn around from what was looking like an all time bad team. They also straight up cut Killian Hayes who was a starter and the 2021 7th pick. I don’t watch a lot of Piston’s basketball but I can’t imagine how bad he’d need to be for them to give up on him already.

Yeah, Pistons won two in a row. Despite still being bad, they must be feeling at least somewhat better.

Timberwolves swept their fourth from the Clippers the other night by 20 points, despite being up against a “stacked” team. Then turned around and thumped the Blazers, unsurprisingly; Edwards had 40+. Up against the Blazers again tomorrow night.

Regular season play has started again. T-wolves lost to the Bucks, but not by much. Yet another lackluster 3rd quarter. They’re now tied again with OKC, who destroyed Washington last night. Next up are the Nets tonight.

Hey, the wolves almost came back in the 4th. Lilard has been struggling, but he can hit nine when needed.

I’m glad to see Lillard on a winning team. We used to be Blazers fans when we lived in Portland. They rarely got far in the playoffs, and management kept screwing with the roster. Lillard was invested in both the team and the community, helping out kids, funding playgrounds, etc., but there’s only so much losing a star like him can tolerate when it’s not his fault, so I don’t blame him for finally bolting.

Yes. (I meant “one when needed,” not “nine”). Lillard’s loyalty-for-most-of-his-career to the Blazers reminded me of Kevin Garnett’s to the Wolves. We’ll see if the Bucks actually win a title with Lillard, like Garnett did with the Celtics. I doubt it, but they should go pretty far in the playoffs.
