I have a Mac and a Windows 8.1 laptop. I need to have 2 separate Chrome browsers instead of 1. What I want is different tabs on each computer for Chrome. As it is now, when I boot up the laptop, I get all the tabs that are on the Mac. I don’t want the same tabs on both computers. Anyone know how to do this so that I can only see the tabs on each computer that I want?
Yes, you need to log out of Chrome on one or both of the computers, or turn off sync in the chrome settings panel.
I have two Chrome browsers on my Linux box that are completely separate but more or less the same
The first is Chromium Version 37.0.2062.120 Built on Debian 7.6, running on Debian 7.8 (281580) (64-bit)
The second is Google Chrome Version 41.0.2272.76 (64-bit)
There is no interchange between the two. So bookmarks & history are not replicated.
Thanks for your help. I have it set now in both computers as follows:
In Settings:
On Startup:
Laptop: Continue where you left off
Mac: Open a specific page or set of pages
Works exactly the way I want it to work.
Chrome lets you set up multiple user profiles, so that you can have a lot of control over what you see and when.
As an example of how I use it: I have a profile of personal general-purpose browsing, business general-purpose browsing, and one specifically for QuickBooks Online usage. (Actually, this is more of a theoretical usage. I’m not really all that rigorous about switching between profiles to keep them all separate. But they exist!)
