This is a request for my fellow crocheters on the Dope.
I had a pattern for men’s gloves and I lost it. Stupid, right? Anyway, I’ve gone all around Google and found some patterns, but nothing like the one I had.
It had a cuff that tightened at the wrist but was not done seperately from the rest of the glove. The pattern went back and forth by rows and ended up being folded over so that the fingers met, and was sewed up all around the edges to finish it off.
I’d like to find another similar to it, but if you have a different one to recommend I’ll try that too. Oh, and the one I had listed varying numbers of stitches along the length, so different sized hands could be made.
When I search Google I usually have to slog through indexes and pattern listings that are clogged with lousy fingerless glove patters, so that’s why I’m asking the help of the Dopers.
Are you on Ravelry.com? Their pattern search is incredible.
There’s a pattern called “gifty gloves” that appeared twice in Crochet Today!: Nov/Dec 2009 & Holiday Gift edition 2010. However it’s an all slip-stitch pattern, made in the round, so its quite different from what you’re describing.
Spend some time checking out all the things the site can do. It’s insane! For example, when you look at a pattern, you can click through and see other people’s completed projects and project notes. If you can’t understand something in a pattern, ask for help on the “patterns” forum. Join groups – for yarns, for stores, for charity, for geographical locales, specific techniques, and more – and chat about your common interests… Queue up future projects and “favorite” stuff you want to remember. Catalog your yarn in your stash and link it with queued projects. It’s amazing useful.
True fact: It passed 2 million users last february and is run by 5 people.
