Need End Of The World Songs Fast!

What’s the matter with The End of the World? You might think it’s not really about the world ending, but Skeeter Davis did die a few years ago.

That’s got to count for something.

“Countdown to Zero,” Asia, on Astra

“Until the End of the World,” U2, Achtung Baby

“Adrian,” Eurythmics, um I forget the album

And, of course, my all-time favorite…John Barry’s “Theme from the Last Valley.”

Good music can really inspire you; help you through the day and through life, y’know? Truly something to be cherished.

I love the whole “Michael Stipe thinks he can sing quickly?” mentality in that version.

I nominate “Silo Lullaby” by Toad the Wet Sprocket

A song or two from Wim Wender’s Until the End of the World might help.

Apocalypse Please, by Muse

Exit Music (For a Film), by Radiohead

We Don’t Need Another Hero, by Tina Turner

Ball of Confusion?

“Waiting For The End Of The World” – Elvis Costello

I’ve had a look at the lyrics and I don’t see it. They’re departing the earth, heading ‘lightyears’ to Venus, and they’re counting down to it.

The world ending is a desirable alternative to having to listen to Skeeter Davis.

Despite the lyric, “live while the whole world dies,” I don’t think this qualifies.
In “Aenema,” only the west coast of the USA ends.

Dammit, scooped! :stuck_out_tongue:

I can’t believe I have one that no one else has - and the best also.

Talkin’ World War III Blues by Bob Dylan. Every WW III cliche neatly disposed of, one verse each.

“Forever Autumn” or any other song from “The War of the Worlds”

Howzabout “Morning Dew”, (is the Grateful Dead’s version the most popular)?

*Where have all the people gone my honey,
Where have all the people gone today.
There’s no need for you to be
worrying about all those people,
You never see those people anyway.
*

Damn, that was mine.

Being the unapologetic geek I am, three Jonathan Coulton songs immediately came to mind.

Nuclear apocalypse: The Big Boom
Zombie apocalypse: re:Your Brains
Android apocalypse, narrowly averted: Todd the T1000

Pleased to share it with you, my friend!
