Need Help Identifying Font

Does anyone know the name of this font?

It’s often used in fantasy roleplaying and wargaming rulebooks.

I’ve been wanting to get a hold of it for ages.

If anyone can point out where I can find / buy / download it, it would be greatly appreciated.

Are the little irregularities (e.g. in the “O”) part of the design, or is this some kind of bad reproduction?

I’d assume design. The duplicated letters (T, M, E and H) have consistent irregularities.

Awesome tool: Identifont - Identify fonts by appearance, find fonts by name

Based on Identifont, it looks like Caslon Antique.

Roman Antique is pretty close. It’s the “antique” that refers to its eroded appearance.

Dewey Finn is right. It is Caslon Antique.

Thanks for all the replies.

Dewey Finn found it.

It’s definitely Caslon Antique.

And thanks for the “Identifont” link, Opal Cat.

Dammit, after I posted the Identifont link I went and did the thing and came up with Caslon Antique, and came back all excited to share. Drat.
