I am on the Waterloo level. I need to get a gun for my third soldier. To do so I need to cross from the “left” guardhouse to the “right” guardhouse. To do that I climb on the roof of the left guardhouse, jump on my levitation ball and fail repeatedly.
Presumably I am to jump onto the horizontal pole midway between the two then fling myself from there to the netting on the tower of the right guardhouse.
However, I never get close. I have tried to double jump partway. I have tried to levitate after flying partway there. No joy.
Reading on the internet for help all I find is either bounce over (somehow…frankly I cannot bounce/levitate remotely close from the left guard tower). Or do the pole. Nothing works.
I have tried countless times. Worse you cannot save from the roof for re-tries (well you can but reload in the antechamber and not the roof). So each failure sees me having to run all the way back up again which becomes zero fun after the 20th time.
Any help? This is so frustrating. So far this has been an amazing game and I am sorry I did not give it shot till now but to be foiled like this is beyond annoying and ruining the whole experience.
I don’t remember the exact moment but I have the stage in mind. I don’t recall it being particularly difficult to get the gun. I don’t think you even need to actually hit the pole If you’re on one roof you should be able to bounce to the other via the ball.
That said, you can get into one guardhouse by using fire on the flamables blocking the door. I believe the gun is also locked in a hay bale somewhere.
If that’s too much trouble, there’s a window below the “right” guardhouse on the drawbridge side. You can use bounce from the bridge up to the window and then bounce up to the roof. It’s a little tricky and takes some time, but it can be done.
Oh my god! I’m stuck in EXACTLY the same spot! How freaky.
I’ve managed to get from the flagpole onto the roof but I’m failing spectacularly to get from the swing pole between the buildings onto the second roof, and I agree that it’s sucking all the fun out of the game for me. I think I might try Smiling Bandit’s tip about jumping up from the bridge, if that is actually possible.
That’s how I got up there. Actually, it was by accident. I got a little stuck early on and easn’t sure where to go, so I cleaned the stage out of figments and such.
Well…I somehow managed the Waterloo level. After numerous tries (don’t want to think how many but a LOT) all of a sudden one try miraculously worked and I had room to spare…that try almost made it seem easy. Wish I could offer advice to the other poster but frankly somehow I just mashed buttons in just the right fashion. No way I could repeat it reliably. I will say I did it from the pole midway between the two guard towers. I never got anywhere close with a bounce from anywhere else.
Now I am stuck in the Meat Circus where my dad is trying to kill me. It is those damn curving fences. I have actually got past them on a few occasions but died later on only to restart the level.
I understand the need to increase difficulty throughout the game but this is pissing me off. More on how the camera is angled which changes up the controls. Bloody nightmare. About to give up. Too frustrating. Shame too because it really is a fantastic game overall.
Meat Circus is a huge jump in difficulty over the previous levels. Don’t give up, the end is near!
Did you manage to collect everything along the way? If you get your mental power up to level 100, you get a bonus movie. But that requires gathering every single figment, and if you can do that without a walkthrough, you’re a better man than I.
This is all about where I put the game down and didn’t pick it up again. I was loving the hell out of it, but like that Zero Punctuation guy said, the difficulty curve has a serious spike to it.
Everyone I know stopped playing there, or at the previous “stay out of the rising water by performing 1000 actions with no mistakes” level. A couple friends refer to those fences as “the end of the game.” I’ve actually never met anyone who got past it, although from the web it’s clear that people do. I gave up after about five hours of trying; it had long since stopped being “fun” and started being “work.”
Okay, what “curved fences” are we talking about here? The things suspended in midair that you have to climb while maneuvering around the flaming parts, inside the tent where your father mocks you, above the rising water? Those weren’t bad! Or are we talking about something else? If that’s what we’re talking about, as I recall the key was to realize that fences are climbable on both sides; climbing on the outside is tough, but on the inside of the curve, much much easier.
Anyway, nice to meetcha, I’ve completed the game (including 100% of figments) all the way to the credits several times.
Can you spoiler what the extra content you get is if you get all the figments? I’ve completed the game, but don’t intend to go back and get every figment.
Yeah, the fences were a pain. Actually, only one was really problematic for me, and I kept getting killed and having to deal with good ol’ Dad again and again. I can’t recall which fence it was, but the trick was to jump off one side and float to the other. Had to do it just right or end up dodging Dad again. (Or, hell, maybe the floating was what got me killed over and over, and I ended up having to switch tactics. Fat lot of help I am.)
I loved this game, by the way. One of the best I’ve ever played. I may have to give it another whirl thanks to this thread.
It’s kind of a let-down, after all the work you do to get it, but: basically, you get a 60 second movie revealing that Lungfish Linda and Mr. Pokeylope have, erm, some sort of history together. And like everything else in the world, it’s on YouTube.
Jeez… you mean the Meat Circus gets HARDER? I’m trying to get past the fourth level of saving the kid and his bunny from the Mutant grinder bunnies, and its turned into no frelling fun. He keeps getting killed as I make my way past the second spinning wheel where the sword-swallower hacks up the swords for me to swing on.
I tell you, I’ve loved this game with a passion up until this point. Its full of great mysteries, wonderful plotlines, fantastic characterizations, and just great whackiness. I’d hate to have it become another “Prince of Persia Two Thrones” because I can’t win the damn thing.
I’m also stuck in that place in Waterloo World, wow. I went off and beat the painter level and now I’m stuck again.
Your comments that it gets harder are not encouraging. I’m so bad at twitchy games. I don’t think there’s even a way to compensate by leveling in this game.
This game is currently sitting on my computer desk staring at me but the huge amount of no-fun that I’ve had trying to get across that gap on Waterloo world has stopped me from going back.
