Need Help w/ Sunless Tanner Application

I’m headed off to a beach vacation tomorrow, and since my normal skin-color is fishbelly white, I’ve decided to apply a sunless tanner. I chose Neutrogena Build-a-Tan, and the test spot I did last night came out the desired tone.

I’m going to do the rest of my bod tonight, but should I apply it to my face? If I apply it to my face, what about the skin under my eyes? Should I put some on my neck? Do I get the underneath part of my arms, even though the sun usually doesn’t hit there? If not, how do I blend the tan top arm to the white underneath arm?

I just want a little color, but I don’t to end up looking like a bronzed weirdo. Help!

Neutrogena is one with a good rep, and it was polled here before with good feedback.

Yes, you apply it to your face. Most modern versions of sunless tanner are fine for the face.

You might want to go light on certain areas around the face because even very tan people often protect their eyes and face. While the face isn’t stark white, it usually is more modestly colored than the rest of the body. The product should be kept out of your eyes.

I hope you chose a medium tone, rather than a deep dark one.

Apply sparingly around elbows, knees and ankles (cause they look darker anyway)…and you might want to follow this advice for under the arms.

Thanks, Philster. The product I picked, Neutrogena Build-a-Tan, goes on very light. According to the label, you are supposed to apply it again and again over several days to gradually build up a dark tan. I think I will just be applying it once. I don’t want to be dark, just not pallid.

I was thinking that maybe I should mix the tanning cream with some moisturizing lotion to cut it when applying it to my face and joints. Does anyone know if I can do that?
