I am a firm believer in giving cats regular names.
I like Janet or Sally for girls, Carl or Peter for boys.
Dogs are a different matter.

Blackie for the white one.
Zippy for the other. Or maybe Zoomy.
One last try:
Carlisle
Forman
Then you can introduce them as, “This is our kitty Carlisle,” and/or, “This is our kitty Forman,” but then you just have to do the laugh.
I know you ruled out human names, but I’ve often wanted to have cats named Alice, Bob, Carol, Dave, Eve, etc.…
lol. it would be good for certain conversations…
Our household’s thing is to name girl kitties after candy and boy kitties after beverages.
So Licorice (black girl kitty), Andy (Guatamala Antigua coffee, boy kitty), etc.
Yeah, it can be oblique and obscure, but it mostly works.
TS Eliot:
The Naming of Cats is a difficult matter,
It isn’t just one of your holiday games;
You may think at first I’m as mad as a hatter
When I tell you, a cat must have THREE DIFFERENT NAMES.
First of all, there’s the name that the family use daily,
Such as Peter, Augustus, Alonzo, or James,
Such as Victor or Jonathan, George or Bill Bailey—
All of them sensible everyday names.
There are fancier names if you think they sound sweeter,
Some for the gentlemen, some for the dames:
Such as Plato, Admetus, Electra, Demeter—
But all of them sensible everyday names,
But I tell you, a cat needs a name that’s particular,
A name that’s peculiar, and more dignified,
Else how can he keep up his tail perpendicular,
Or spread out his whiskers, or cherish his pride?
Of names of this kind, I can give you a quorum,
Such as Munkustrap, Quaxo, or Coricopat,
Such as Bombalurina, or else Jellylorum—
Names that never belong to more than one cat.
But above and beyond there’s still one name left over,
And that is the name that you never will guess;
The name that no human research can discover—
But THE CAT HIMSELF KNOWS, and will never confess.
When you notice a cat in profound meditation,
The reason, I tell you, is always the same:
His mind is engaged in a rapt contemplation
Of the thought, of the thought, of the thought of his name:
His ineffable effable
Effanineffable
Deep and inscrutable singular name.
There’s Binturong if you’re going animal. I have one named Matilda which can be shortened to Tilly very easily. Or Jellicle, to remind you of the amazing musical and memorable movie.
I love human names for pets, especially dogs. I think I first picked it up from WKRP in Cincinnati. When I heard Les’s dog was named Phil, I thought that was awesome.
Friday, Summer, June, Junebug, Ladybug, Grasshopper
The rule is, all dogs are named Fido, all cats are named Tiddles, and all birds are named Joey. Please respect the law of the land.
Cersei and Jaime
Ooh! That’s good.
I’m leaning towards Merri and Pippin at the moment. Merri for meringue, and Pippin because he’s Merry’s buddy in LOTR.
For no reason I can explain, I immediately thought “Griffin” when I looked at the first kitten, and now I can’t think of any other name for him.
We also have a black/white cat named Oreo.
We have also recently came into possession of a snow bengal whose markings resemble moon craters resulting in us naming her Luna.
Cloud and Domino.
mmm
There’s always Jeoffry
Astrophe and Aclysm. If one of them is rather sedate, Atonic.
IMO “Dick” would be a delightful name for an adorable female kitty!
