Need opinion from women!

I prefer to grow a goatee and keep it well-groomed. I keep it short (1/4 - 5/8in) and I condition it often to keep it soft, just in case. No wants to kiss a porcupine. I am rather confident with my appearance. However, I can’t stand to be “clean-shaven” because I think I have a babyface. I am 30 years old. I prefer to look my age, not as though I am 19 years old with a receding hairline

I want to know what you women think. Is having a babyface a good thing? Do you prefer facial hair, as long as it is maintained properly, or do you like clean shaven better?

I don’t care for it, personally. My husband grew a mustache once when we were apart for a couple of months (before we were married) and I threatened him with… Well, never mind, but it’s not the effect you’re going for, trust me.

I think goatees are cute. Well, for some guys they are. If you’re one of those who look good with it, keep it. But a babyface isn’t bad either.

Then again, I’ve never kissed a guy with facial hair, so I know nothing about that aspect.

My husband has a baby face and I like it. A couple of weeks ago he didn’t shave for about a week, and he went to shower and stuff and came out of the washroom with a goatee, I almost wet my pants…but in a good way, it is so…sexy!

Thanks for the smile this morning.
How do you feel about doing someone you don’t know?

At least once a year I try to grow some facial adornment, mostly out of spite that it never looks good on me.
I’m currently going through this years phase, and grew a Van Dyke (Goatee + Moustache). I’ve been getting good reactions so far, which surprised me.
The best part is the girl that kept trying to get me in tickling contest now always loses, now that I have a 3rd weapon.

Oh, I like facial hair. Keep the goat.

Keep it as long as you keep it neat and tidy. There is nothing worse than a man with matted facial hair.

I like facial hair too, but it’s not a requirement. I am a bit partial to mustaches, though.

But if the goatee looks good on you, and you maintain it well, I say keep it.

I have to say, my ex-bf had a goatee when I met him, and when he shaved it off, I asked him to grow it back. A beard can look very nice on a man provided it is kept nicely trimmed–none of those wild scraggly looking things for me!

TV Reporter: Can you destroy the earth?
The Tick: I hope not. That’s where I keep all my stuff!

Mmmm, facial hair…very sexy. I say keep it.

Drink up, dear. I made it just for you.

I say keep it. If you keep it trimmed and clean and you like it, that’s what matters.
I like facial hair on men – my s.o. has had a mustache since I’ve known him and no doubt was one of the things that attracted me; he’s a cop and can’t have a beard, but was out for awhile for an operation and is now on light duty so he grew a goatee – I love it! Something devilish yet romantic about it - very sexy, but he’ll have to take it off when he goes back on patrol.

Personally, I love a babyface. I don’t like facial hair, but I do like goatees if they are kept trimmed. I know a man who grew one and I swear he actually looked evil. but in a good way.

It depends on the person - generally speaking, if you keep it neat (as CanadianSue said), I say go for it. I shudder to say this, and deserve flames if I get them, but I only like goatees on otherwise fit and trim guys. This probably stems from one of my obnoxious acquaintance’s habits of goatee-ing. Anyway…give it a shot!

I would think a goatee would make you look younger. I always think of college guys in coffee houses.

My personal preference is a five o’clock shadow, but go with whatever you feel looks best on you. If one chick doesn’t like it, find one who does.

I would’ve gotten away with it, too, if it weren’t for those meddling kids!

Babyface=very good, very cute. I usually like the cleanshaven babyface over the goatee. Although SOME guys can really pull off the goatee/goatee+mustache thing.

Things I dont think are cute are: A full mustache/no beard, a full mustache and full beard, or a full beard and no mustache (not really into Amish guys)

“I am so smart, I am so smart, s-m-r-t, i mean s-m-a-r-t”

I guess it really does depend on the guy. Normally, I don’t like moustaches, but this guy I go to school with has one of those 70’s style Fu-Manchu moustaches. It’s just fabulous.

I think you should ask some women you know in real life about it.

I need to make some corrections concerning my OP. I stated the wrong length at which I keep my facial hair trimmed. I should have said 3/8 to 1/2 inch.

Also, I think I have been mistaken in calling my style a “goatee.” After reading all the above posts, I went and looked up “goatee” in the MW Collegiate Dictionary, and it defines goatee as being limited to the chin only. Perhaps “VanDyke” as another poster called it is the correct name? The style of my beard is identical to the style Tom Green of MTV wears. Some people say I look like him, lol.

Is there a source that defines beard style names with illustrations?

I personally loathe facial hair. But I don’t know what you look like. If your hair is receding, I guess you should go for it. Anthony Edwards (Dr. Greene on E.R.) is losing his hair but he showed up one season with a goatee and he looked great!!!

Here is an interesting site for beard enthusiasts. http://www.euphoria.force9.co.uk/beardnet/index.html

In order to look like the guys from Limp Bizkit, you must keep your goatee.
