It’s getting to be That Time at Chez Doors. St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner. Since Airman is pretty well Irish, we usually make a corned beef and cabbage. As much as I like corned beef and cabbage (and being Jewish, I’m hard-wired to like it), I want to try something different.
Unfortunately, I am not Irish, and I have no real idea what’s out there. Airman does not observe Lent, so meat is not an issue. I’d appreciate any suggestions and recipes y’all may have.
The one thing I really, really loved about visiting Ireland is the traditional Irish breakfast. Don’t get me wrong, pub grub, Ploughman’s lunch, and salmon on the coasts are fantastic, the thing I really miss, the thing that I spend too much money making at home, is the traditional Irish breakfast.
Some tasty sounding ideas, I thought (although I’ve yet to try them).
The food I remember most fondly from Ireland was smoked salmon and ham sandwiches. They put butter rather than crappy mayo on the bread, and I think the ham was superiour to what I’m used to. Or maybe everything tastes better in Ireland.

No wonder it’s such a poor country . . . you lose half the workday sitting around digesting your breakfast!
