Need some suggestions for authentic Irish cuisine

It’s getting to be That Time at Chez Doors. St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner. Since Airman is pretty well Irish, we usually make a corned beef and cabbage. As much as I like corned beef and cabbage (and being Jewish, I’m hard-wired to like it), I want to try something different.

Unfortunately, I am not Irish, and I have no real idea what’s out there. Airman does not observe Lent, so meat is not an issue. I’d appreciate any suggestions and recipes y’all may have.

Robin

Irish stew.

Colannon.

The one thing I really, really loved about visiting Ireland is the traditional Irish breakfast. Don’t get me wrong, pub grub, Ploughman’s lunch, and salmon on the coasts are fantastic, the thing I really miss, the thing that I spend too much money making at home, is the traditional Irish breakfast.

St. Patrick’s Stew

1 fresh local snake smoked slow o’er the coals and chunked.
4 measures of barley
3 Onions
A potfull of dulse

Cover with water. Simmerin till done.

Pre-serpentineholocaust chow.

Serve him grass and dirt and tell him you prepared an authentic 1847 meal.

Appetizer: whiskey
Entree: whiskey
Salad: whiskey with lettuce
Dessert: beer

(Hey, I’m [part] Irish, it’s allowed.)

Are you starting up a Holocaust diner while you’re at it?

Hell, that’s inspiration.

Whiskey, Dijon, brunoise ramps, mollasses, a bit of sugar, white vinegar, and veg oil.

'twere to make a nice dressing.

Let me try this again.

There was a thread a couple of years ago looking for “Celtic Party Food”, I’ve saved it and it is here - http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=396194

Some tasty sounding ideas, I thought (although I’ve yet to try them).

The food I remember most fondly from Ireland was smoked salmon and ham sandwiches. They put butter rather than crappy mayo on the bread, and I think the ham was superiour to what I’m used to. Or maybe everything tastes better in Ireland.

Gotta make soda bread! And Boxty! -“boxty in the griddle, boxty in the pan, if you cant make boxty, you’ll never get your man”

I’m going to try some Guinness stew this year…maybe

What does a traditional Irish breakfast include?

Thank you. This really makes much more sense now.

I was going to say soda bread and pixilated already has. I don’t have a great recipe so if anyone were to want to share one…

A couple of eggs a couple of rashers of bacon, a grilled tomato, baked beans, sausage, black pudding, white pudding, soda bread, toast, potatoes.

Don’t forget the heart attack.

No wonder it’s such a poor country . . . you lose half the workday sitting around digesting your breakfast!

Ireland is one of the richest countries in the world per capita.

I have never seen potatoes in an Irish breakfast - except for potato farls in Norn Iron.

I mentioned Guiness stew to my mates extremely Irish grandad and he said:

‘What dyawant to be puttin’ Guiness in a stew for, you feckin’ drink it you eejit!’

Guess that’s me told then! I do love Guiness stew though but this authentic Irish man didn’t think it was very authentic!

This Irish stew recipe by Richard Corrigan is the kitties titties however:

I thought the OP was asking for authentic!?

This is an authentic Irish salad dressing.
