Need source for heavy-duty shelf bracket system.

After diligent Googling with no success, I throw myself upon the mercy of the Teeming Millions, secure in the knowledge that at least one of you will know what the Hell I’m talking about and be able to help me.

I possess some heavy-duty vertical rails that are used in industrial shelving systems. My problem is that I am unable to find a source for the horizontal brackets that mate with these rails and actually support the shelves themselves.

Please check HERE for a picture of a portion of one of these rails. Following is a verbal description of its salient design and dimensions:

The rail is basically a steel “U” channel fabricated from 0.10” thick cold rolled steel. The bottom of the “U” (face of the rail) has a width of 2.0”. The sides of the “U” which determine the distance between the supporting wall and the face of the rail are 1.675”.

On the face of the rail are two parallel rows of slots that receive tabs on the (needed) horizontal brackets. Individual slots are 0.935” in length by 0.215” in width. The rows are separated horizontally by 0.96” on-center. In the vertical direction there is 0.575 between the top of one slot and the bottom of the next slot above it. Holes 0.315” in diameter are spaced at intervals of 12.0” along the length of the rail to receive bolts that attach the rails to the wall.

There are no manufacturer markings on the rails that I have been able to discover.

TIA for information leading to the location of this manufacturer and/or a source to obtain brackets for use with this shelving system.

I use rails very similar (but not identical) to these when building shelving from the Container Store (closest one to you is Rockville, Hon). The manufacturer is elfa.

But they are pretty standard stuff, you should also try Home Depot or any other hardware store.

I can’t tell from your photo how big they are, you said industrial so maybe these home-targeted solutions aren’t a fit, but this should be a start.

Thanks for the info. These look like the “heavy duty” ones I have seen at Home Depot, Lowe’s, etc. Unfortunately, they don’t “fit” my rails. Have to keep looking.

This sort of thing is pretty common here in the UK seeTHIS LINK for example.

would these work?

p.s. - it would probably be quicker (and possibly cheaper) to buy new, matching parts.

I’ve found that the heavy duty ones sold at Home Depot don’t really fit the heavy duty rails sold at Home Depot without the help of a hammer. And possibly pliers. So they may fit eventually.

I’d suggest measuring the length of and distance between the slots of the ones you have, and see if you can find matching slots at a home depot or something, then buying the brackets that go with the matching braces.

Peter, those LOOK like the same ones we have at Home Depot. The concept is the same but the dimensions are different. Without knowing the exact measurements of the various features (as I gave in my description) I cannot tell if they would work. These rails are pretty heavy-duty, probably beyond the needs of the average homeowner, so I’m guessing it would be unlikely to find them at a “DIY” store. But thanks for the info.
