A few weeks after 9/11 there was a star studded gala benefit for the firefighters of NYC. Richard Gere took the stage and encouraged us not to retaliate out of revenge but turn our energies to love…or something like that…anyway, he got booed pretty badly.
I have been looking for a link to a video of is, but have come up empty handed.

Every time I hear the name Richard Gere I can only think of that idiotic speech he gave at the Academy Awards when he rambled on about sending virtual love bombs to China so the whole world can live in peace and harmony. The entire audience sat there in stunned disbelief as he actually went “psssssssh, boom”.

Wasn’t there yet another Richard Gere Academy Awards speech in which he mentioned the Dalai Lama and if everyone concentrated it would make the world a better place, etc? Or maybe that was the same speech?
I’ve only seen the one, but I wouldn’t doubt if repeated it many times. What an embarrassment for the Dalai Lama.
Richard Geere is a practicing Bhudist; IIRC, he has appeared publicaly with the Dalai Lama on more than one occassion.
