My brother, his wife and their 1.5* kids have a roommate. The wife’s high school best friend.
It works out fantastically for all of them.

Just look at Craigslist, and all the ads looking for roommates, and people renting rooms. If you live in a major metropolitan area, and you are single, you pretty much have to live with roommates unless you are wealthy. Many people I know in their late 20s and early 30s who are single live with unrelated roommates. I cannot imagine anyone thinking that is weird. How else can single people afford to live?
