I swear I’m not going crazy (never mind all the weapons & drugs), but I saw a film in the early to central 1980s that was titled “One Magic Summer”. It was a UK production, very well done, and starred what I though to be a Young and Amazingly Sexy Natasha Richardson.
Now I’ve seached Everywhere, and there is no mention that I can find of this film Anywhere (not on Any of her filmographies).
PLOT LINE:
The setting is the 19th century…two male med students go on holiday and one falls madly in love with a local girl. He spends all summer with her, has to leave to break his engagement with a prior girl in London. He promises to return.
Prior girl is Very Wiley…manipulates his job appointment to her fathers hospital & then brings up the marriage date. Still, he proves to be a gut-less ass for staying in the city.
The country girl (Natasha I Believe) follows him to the city, sees Ball-less Dr. with Evil Bitch Fiancee, and returns to the country devastated (and pregnant). She dies a few years after giving birth.
Cut to 20 years later, same Ball-less Dr. and Evil Bitch Wife are on holiday in the same neck of the woods. He looks her up, finds her dead, and finds she had a Son. Ball-less Dr. lives through a massive anxiety attack as EB Wife can’t have children & he’s always wanted them. Fade to close as she and he drive away, just to see the Son once…and that he looks exactly like him.
People, I know this is a real movie. Might it have been a different actress? (I always confuse Kim Cattrall and Theresa Russell too)
A friend was asking me who i thought the most beautiful woman ever filmed was. Quite a few names came up…and while I’m sorry that I thought she was Natasha Richardson, there is no doubt in my mind that in that move, Imogen Stubbs was Amazingly Beautiful…
Now to see if I can get it on DVD…
