Neighborly update

As some of you may remember, my good friends have neighbors who 1) throw firecrackers, rocks, etc. At their house and dogs. They also 2) have kids who were likely the ones who broke into my friends house and stole a bunch of electronics (DVD, playstation, etc.) and 3) Have had various run-ins with the police in which they consistantly scream and act like a bad episode of COPS.

As an update (as some people have asked about it…)-

The kids have now taken to destroying their own porch by taking bricks out of the foundation one by one. My friends are trying to find out the landlord’s ph# to let them know about this.

The kids continue to pitch things at the dogs, but less frequently.

Unfortunately, the kids not only terrorize the neighborhood, the parents refuse to do anything except defend the dear little angels. This, I figure, can only be a supporting factor to the four ‘for sale’ signs that have gone up recently on either side of my friends and their neighbors, and across the street. (Note- it’s not the sole reason, I’m sure, but certainly contributing).

On the ‘up’ (?) side, two days ago seven police cars were over at the house, and the mother was ranting at the police about something. We’re not sure what the outcome of that is just yet.

One of my friends says that now that he is at home most of the time, he’s going to do his damndest to find out the landlord and make some calls about the problems with this family. The unfortunate downside is that he’s clinically depressed, and thus usually doesn’t actually do what he says he will, project-wise (before anyone jumps on me, I’m CD, too, so I know what it’s about.).

I’d really like to see these asshats moved away from my friends, but I don’t think there’s anything in particular I can do. If anyone has suggestions, I’d love to hear 'em.

Have your friend and/or his neighbors keep journals listing each disturbance as it happens. Details, who, what, where, when…Pictures wouldn’t hurt.

Note any phone calls to the police, and subsequent action.

Find the landlord. Give him all of the info, it will help him secure an eviction. (I would think…though I am not a lawyer.) That works in my apartment complex. We have a particularly noisy neighbor, and they are one notice away from going to court.
