The first man on the Moon doesn’t give interviews very often, but he did to an Australian accountant, of all people. You can find all four installments here: http://thebottomline.cpaaustralia.com.au/
The last installment includes a nifty side-by-side comparison of Google Moon images and footage of Apollo 11’s descent.
I especially like his commentary over the footage of the descent to the moon’s surface. Very cool.
That was interesting.
Last year I interviewed one of the other moonwalkers (there were 12) and I found it very challenging. Those guys have been answering many of the same questions for the last 40 years and have developed their own little “scripts” for some of them. The substance of the interview was only peripherally related to his lunar mission, but even so I found him slipping into responses that sounded very well practiced when it did come up.
Armstrong seemed very gracious in discussing what he’s already gone over countless times, and I didn’t detect much in the way of canned responses. Maybe that’s why he doesn’t give many interviews.
