Sad news, not totally unexpected though.
RIP my man, I love your songs.

Damn, hell of a drummer, and really a damn good lyricist (hey, you can’t rule the Earth in every facet you endeavor).
One of my favorite sets of lyrics by him was The Spirit of Radio.
Yeah, this is probably hitting me harder than I expected. I’m a 12 year old nerdy bass player/Rush fan deep down inside.
Aww crap man… Rush was my favorite band for many years. I am seriously bummed to hear about this.
RIP Neil…
Nobody around me can understand why I’m sobbing so hard I can’t catch my breath.
Damn I don’t know why but I couldn’t believe it when I heard it, man is a legend.
I have always liked Rush, but didn’t really come to appreciate them until maybe 10 years or so ago.
Sad news.
Awful news. RIP.
Posting this watery-eyed.
RIP.
Damn, not only was Rush one of my favorite groups, but one my Brother and I shared a common liking for, and went to concerts many times over the years. [while I am sad my brother is dead, I am glad he is not around to get this news.]
This thread requires a solo. So many to choose from. This one’s from Letterman.
Bubbles Needs A Rush Ticket - YouTubeDang. What a legend.
Holy moly. I gasped when I saw the thread title. Never was that huge a Rush fan, but I’ve heard enough to know that Peart was a master of his art. Big loss to music.
Each of us, a cell of awareness
Imperfect and incomplete
Genetic blends
With uncertain ends
On a fortune hunt that’s far too fleet
RIP, Neil.
(Honestly, I thought Alex Lifeson would be the first, because it’s no secret that he’s in poor health himself.)
How do most people pronounce Peart?
I’ve always said “pert,” and CTV agrees, however two CBC news people have now said “peert.”
When we are young
Wandering the face of the earth
Wondering what our dreams might be worth
Learning that we’re only immortal
For a limited time
Pfft! Fuckin’ new guy. Geez, Rush goes thru drummers like Spinal Tap.
I have to joke, or I’ll cry.
I believe “Peert” is the way he pronounces it. I’m only the most casual of Rush listeners, but I’ve learned that somewhere along the way.
Agreed. I saw him play 11 tours. People run FROM bathrooms TO drum solos! The greatest of our time by far.
I’m pissed. So sad.
