I love Netflix, but I did encounter something weird this week. I tried to rent the 2-disc Around the World in 80 Days miniseries. Disc 1 is available now, but Disc 2 is not available at all, and the availability is unknown. Why would they continue to rent only the first half of a miniseries?
Because the other half isn’t available on DVD.
I’ve found that “very long wait” discs are sometimes shipped the same day, so it’s not an exact science.
I usually put the long wait choices at the very top of my queue, which I hope gives me higher priority. And I don’t care what sequence series discs are sent in, and sometimes don’t order all of a series anyway. If I don’t like one sample of a series, I don’t order the rest.
Ok, I read through the reviews, and some of them indicate that Part 2 is on the same disc as Part 1, even though that’s not how Netflix describes it. But some of the reviews talk about 2 discs. I guess I’ll just have to rent it and see what’s there.
A slight hijack but how do they handle multiple formats now? When I made the HD mistake, it was annoying that I would have a movie in my queue for HD-DVD with long wait when the standard DVD was available. I e-mailed customer service that they should allow both formats to be in the queue or allow a choice of format with the addition of “first available”.
I’ve heard that Blockbuster’s online service does allow a “first available” choice.
