Netflix rant: How can I get them to fix this?

Mundane and pointless rant:

I recently ordered the 1988 version of “The Blob.”

Netflix carries both the remake and classic versions of this film.

Twice now, Netflix has sent me the wrong version of this film. They keep putting the 1958 version disc, inside of the sleeve clearly labeled for the 1988 version.

The first time this happened, I reported it to them as instructed on their website. I even went a step further, by sticking a post-it note on the face of the disc sleeve, describing the mix up and asking them to correct it, on return.

As instructed, I re-ordered the 1988 version immediately after reporting the error and just prior to returning the disc.

Today, I received the “replacement.” Guess what… same thing. 1958 disc inside of the 1988 sleeve. ARRRGH! I thought the post-it was a clever back-up to the online error report. Don’t any human beings handle/inspect the discs in these facilities?

I have reported it for the second time. This time, I followed the normal “report problem” method, and also sent them a descriptive email of the problem. Plus, I’m still trying the post-it again as a third backup.

We have been using Netflix for about 5 months. So far, they have had a very good track record with us. I have only received one broken disc, and now the above mix up, for the second time. I’d estimate we’ve gone through at least 50 movies with them, so 3 errors out of 50 isn’t bad. As a whole, I’m very pleased with Netflix.

I just wish they’d correct this mix-up!

it’s possible that all their copies are wrong, i used to do customer service for a mail-order video catalog, and it wasn’t all that unusual to get the wrong movie factory sealed in the box.

one of the funnier cases involved me trying to calm an irate mother who inadvertently sat down with her children to watch “SINderella” instead of the non-porno version remake by Disney known as “Cinderella”.

 eek!!!

Not funny, very scary. It’s little mistakes like this that help provide fuel to those that would outlaw Porn all together.
Well I guess no lasting harm was done to the kids; but still eek!!!

Motorgirl thanks for the secret number. Should post it larger for anyone who wanders by this thread.

I really like Netflix. We already found a loss gem the kids love. The 7 faces of Dr. Lao. Great movie that the kids really love.
I have been able to catch up and see the entire first season of Dead Like Me and the Sopranos. Lots of movies, no problems so far. We are probably at 40 DVDs now.

This was from a really wonderful book, The Circus of Dr. Lao which you should try to find in a library, on Amazon.com or in a used book market. It is NOT for kids, but was one really fascinating book.

I ordered the 1988 version from them a couple of months and the correct version arrived. They must be slipping!

Just for farts and whistles you should try ordering the 1958 version and see what shows up.

Postcards - I just wanted to jump in here and say thanks for the link in your sig. Just spent a couple hours visiting my old stompin’ grounds. The Bronx. Man it’s been a long time.
(Jeez - Monkey Island. Way in the back of the Bronx Zoo. I wonder how many people knew about that place)

The same thing happened to their Battlestar Galactica discs. If you go read the user comments for the 1970s series, you’ll see that for a long time, everyone that ordered the discs got the 2003 series discs instead. So apparently, whatever problem causes this doesn’t just affect individual discs, but all the discs of that show, so no matter how many copies you order, they’ll all be wrong, until they finally get around to fixing it.
