So, I am looking up different parts of the brain for some neurology review. I was wondering if anyone could help me add to this so I can get a more complete picture of what I need to study to bone up on my understanding of the brain.
So, I don’t know precisely what my question is, but I’d like to get a discussion of neurology going, as I don’t really understand the relationships between parts of the brain. I have a bit of an understanding of the brain’s basic anatomy but not what is governed by what and how they interact with one another.
I am putting this hear, because the answers need to be factual, but my question is broad, so I am inviting people to tell me anything that will help me complete my knowledge of the brain as I learn associatively much better than by rote. IE, if I know how things are connected I’ll be much more capable of remembering precisely which parts are where.
I need to study for my licensing exam for massage therapy, and one of the things I did the weakest on was the brain section of my neurology course because the time we spent on it was when my own brain decided it was vacation time in the middle of the semester. I passed the course, but didn’t get the material down as well as I would have liked. I also think I am going to pursue a somato-cognitive track in the long term so I’d like to get this stuff down well now.
As I am a Kinesthetic learner, it helps me to interact with the info, so having a typed conversation will aid in retention. This is one of the reasons I message board so frequently, because discussion is one of the best ways to help me retain information.
So if you have any ideas about things that interest you about the brain, interactions between parts, peculiar pathologies or anything. I’d love to hear about it.

I particularly found the bit about Capgras Syndrome to be most interesting. Capgras syndrome impacts the Fusiform Gyrus which deals with facial recognition. Somehow the info from the Amygdala doesn’t intergrate with the Facial recognition in the Fusiform Gyrus properly, so you don’t get the proper emotional associations with facial recognition. IE, you won’t recognize your Mother as your Mother. You can see that she looks like your Mother, but you don’t recognize her as your Mother. This only happens in terms of facial recognition. You’d recognize her for instance if she called ou on the phone.
It is that sort of information about how the information integrates that I am most interested in. I recognize that my query may be a bit too vague, but I’ll see how this fishing expedition turns out.
Thanks
