I am working with a group who wants to put together a Persistant World for Neverwinter Nights. Now that they have solved a problem I was having with a patch, I am ready to DM a game. Those who responded to the previous thread are encouraged to try again; I need a group to test my module, an update of The Temple of Elemental Evil- starting in the Village of Hommlet.
Either post here or respond to my Email link to get the server IP and play times.
I hope it comes out a nice mixture of both roleplay and action; I want to keep it close to the PnP experience.
My group has several DMs, and some of them may do action-based adventures. Our general outlook, however, is that the general run of “action” players are in it to “beat the game” and not to cooperate with others in order to have a good time. We want serious players who will roleplay to further the story and make the game interesting; but there will be sufficient action as far as encounters and other challenges.
I guess that’s the nice way of saying “no l33t d00ds.” Or, at least, not ones that are in it for themselves.
Glee: No, no, yes, yes, yes. It is the most complete computerization of the AD&D game system to date, complete with the ability to write your own modules and host servers so people can play in them as multiplayer games in real time, with some people logging in as co-DM’s to play the monsters.
Unfortunately, my pc at home with the DSL modem sux0r, so I can’t get play.
I will get the email addresses from the profiles of those who want to play, and I’ll send you the server IP and password, and if you need help the logon procedure. If you don’t have a current email addy in your profile, either post it or send it to my email.
I will also send the game times for DM-moderated campaigns; I am not the only one running a game on the server so you have a greater chance of finding a game you like at a time that conforms to your schedule.
Again- just sign up in this thread by saying “I want in” and make sure I have your email address.
if it’s turn-based, does that mean my friends and I are all logged on at the same time, but one of us moves at a time (because you mention real time above, so I’m slightly puzzled).
glee, it’s not turn-based, though the DM can allow the players the ability to pause. You’ll need quite a powerhouse machine to play the game smoothly. It uses top-of-the-line 3D graphics, and while you can have a 32MB video card and a less than 1GHz machine, you’ll greatly benefit from a 128MB GeForce4 card and at least 1GHz. More RAM = More good, too.
I’ve e-mailed, Steelerphan, but forgot to ask…do I need to download the 1.23 patch? I’m somewhat iffy on this one as I have heard of numerous problems with it.
