Get a grip. The show is going out at 6:25 on a Saturday evening, do you really think there’s going to be a lot of underwear scenes? The second shot is from Karen’s modelling portfolio, btw.
2D? I wouldn’t say it was that good. He had ‘shouty mode’ and “I’m very, very sorry”. And that was it. Oh, apart from his ‘I’m thinking’ face, which always suggested constipation to me.
Seconded.
I haven’t a clue. I haven’t watched television at the actual times in a long time. I didn’t even know when Doctor Who aired. I got used to seeing it really late at night on PBS here in the States.
But you are right that I was being overly dramatic. I was seeing things that weren’t there. Still, I don’t get why you would advertise the show like that: “Doesn’t this girl have a great body? Come and watch this show where we’ll cover it all up.”
But that’s what I liked about him. The fact that, on the surface, he didn’t have that many emotions. It makes him more mysterious–trying to figure out what he’s really thinking.
What I’m currently not liking about Smith is that he’s playing the Doctor a bit goofy. I’m hoping there’s a reason for this: does the apparent age of the Doctor’s reincarnation usually affect his maturity level?
You speak as though you have never seen the show. Particularly the original series. There has never been an incarnation of the Doctor that didn’t have his playful side, sometimes stretching it to breaking point.
True. I loved the scene in the three Doctors where William Hartnell says, “so these are my replacements, a dandy and a clown”.
Many of the Doctors in the original series had a humorous side for example:
Patrick Troughton’s recorder and stove pipe hat.
John Pertwee’s venusian singing and aikido
Sylvester McCoy’s spoon playing.
Collin Baker’s entire wardrobe.
Tom Baker was funny and intense at the same time, only Davidson’s Doctor seemed without too many quirks.
Apart from the celery. Not many people could carry that off…
I forgot the celery.
Christopher Eccleston did that better, IMO. He really did appear to be an alien who had to occasionally remind himself what human emotions were and when to show them.
