New alleged casting list for next Batman movie

The UK tabloid, The Sun is reporting that the following people have been cast for the next Dark Knight Opus:

Eddie Murphy as the Riddler.
Rachel Weisz as Cat Woman.
Shia LaBeouf as (gag) Robin.

I hpe this list is bogus. not so much because of the actors but because I don’t want to see Robin anywhere near this franchise. That item is actually what makes me think the list must be fake. Haven’t both Chris Nolan and Christian Bale already said that Robin will never be allowed to taint this iteration of Batman?

Rachel Weisz, cool.

Murphy/LaBouef, gag.

Does anyone ever argue that LeBeouf has ever shown evidence that he can actually act?

Please, please, please no Catwoman or Riddler or such. How about Talia al Ghul or Cassandra Cain?

Eddie Murphy? Seriously? I can tolerate LeBeouf, but Eddie Murphy? Really?

I’m assuming this list is real. I didn’t think Heath Ledger would be a great Joker, either. In Nolan, I trust.

The Sun published this? Then I believe it 100%.

I think Eddie Murphy could be great. The guy has more talent than most give him credit for. I’m not a fan of adding Robin to the franchise yet. Batman has barely settled in. I sincerely hope they don’t squeeze catwoman in just to fill the need for catwoman. I hated the way the Tim Burton series started to squeeze as many villains in each movie just to cover them all. They need to develop one villain with one plotline.

I wasn’t a huge fan of Dark Knight, but I didn’t have a problem with having two major villains, as long as one was clearly the primary and their stories related in some plot-significant fashion. Jamming together Catwoman/Penguin, Riddler/Two-Face, Freeze/Poison Ivy/Bane all create plotting problems and overstuffed movies because these characters have no real need to ever team up and it forces time-wasting independent origin stories on the audience.

I vote on fake.

And everyone knows that Cher will be playing Catwoman.

I don’t see any reason for the plot to involve catwomans grandmother.

I don’t get the hate for Robin. When I grew up, it was always Batman and Robin. I do agree that Christopher Nolan’s vision of the Batman franchise probably isn’t the right place for him. But Robin worked in the animated Batman series. I thought he was a great addition and fit in perfectly.

I’m not sure about the reported Graysons prequel series being developed for the CW Network, though. I think that will be a bad idea.

Murphy is the dead-giveaway that this is completely bogus. Nolan would never put that box office millstone (amazing that at one time he was a huge star) as second-billed to Bale.

I don’t care about Murphy and The Beef, but please, God please, we need Rachel Weisz in more movies. All movies. She doesn’t even have tio have a part, just have her walking into every shot wearing sexy outfits. Or no outfits. In fact, forget the movie. Send her to my house.

Man,that would suck. I don’t believe it; Nolan is smarter than that.

I’m not even sure they’ve started writing it yet, therefore casting for it would be bogus. It’s nonsense.

Also, I’d prefer it if Nolan went a different direction rather than the old standard villains. I think they could do some interesting things with Talia Al Ghul. Maybe Bane…

No

Hasn’t Christian Bale said that he’ll chain himself to his trailer and refuse to do any more work if they bring in a Robin?

That said, Rachel Weisz as Catwoman might be kind of cool.

For the uninformed, anything The Sun says can be safely ignored. If it is true it is entirely by coincidence.

However, Rachel Weisz is awesome.

Robin doesn’t necessarily need to demolish everything, though I admit the chances are great that he would. What needs to happen is that Robin has to be introduced and used in a way that doesn’t seem patently absurd in the world Nolan has constructed.

  1. Dick can be younger than Bruce, but shouldn’t be a kid.
  2. Emphasize during the origin sequence that the character is named for Robin Hood, not the little bird.
  3. Go with a version of the Robin costume that is the same idea as the Nolan Batsuit i.e. it is actually high tech battle armor, not a fruity-looking ensemble with a yellow cape and green trunks. No little Peter Pan slippers, either.
  4. Dick can be a little more light hearted than Bruce, but not a wisecracking jerk-off. Remember, he’s as much of a revenge-crazed psycho as Bruce. If anything, we should see Bruce trying to rein in Dick from being overly sadistic and violent.

BTAS made really good use of the Robin character. He wasn’t in every episode and when he was there, it wasn’t as comic relief.

I’d just as soon they left him out of the new franchise entirely, though.
