New AMC series - "Feed the Beast"

Did anyone else check this out last night?

It will be on Tuesday night’s going forward. I was interested enough to check out the next few episodes. Lots of good story arc with a few different angles. We’ll see how it goes but so far so good.

Anyone?

I’m so totally annoyed by David Schwimmer, I can’t see myself watching it.

Hah! That was my first reaction, too. I figure if it turns out to be good, I can always catch up OnDemand.

Sorry to disagree, but I thought he was riveting in the pilot.

What’s the premise?

Premise: (from AMC’s website)

“Feed the Beast tells the story of Tommy (David Schwimmer) and Dion (Jim Sturgess) who are like brothers. Dion can’t stay out of trouble. Tommy can’t move past it. For two friends on the brink of losing everything, a dusty pipe dream of opening up an upscale restaurant in their hometown of the Bronx is all they have left to turn their lives around. Together, they take on the insanity of the New York restaurant world, and navigate its underbelly of petty criminals, corrupt officials and violent mobsters.”

I liked last night’s episode even better than the pilot. Great acting by Schwimmer and Sturgess and a nice little plot twist with Dion’s attorney.

I’ll be watching this for awhile. Thumbs up.

Note that the backstory is that Tommy’s wife was killed by a hit-and-run driver, and his grade-school-age son has been mute since then (perhaps he witnessed the accident?). I think eventually we’re going to learn the identity of the driver responsible, and my guess is that it will turn out to be Dion, Tommy’s partner and best friend.

Note that I haven’t seen the second episode yet, so perhaps they’ve already done that, but it sounds like a plot element to save for the season finale.

“Two Broke Boys”

Yeah I am not a Schwimmer fan, but his dead lifeless acting actually works for this broken man character.
