New bin Laden videotape: Again, he avoids the important question.

On this eve of the second anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, a new videotape supposedly from Osama bin laden has been aired.

In an audio tape accompanying the video, a voice said to be that of bin Laden (not verified yet) praises the Sept. 11 hijackers.

My question: Has Osama bin Laden ever made a public statement ANYWHERE where he says that he and his organization are responsible for the Sept. 11 attacks? In other words, has he and his organization ever unequivocally claimed responsibility for the hijackers?

I don’t recall this happening. It’s always, as in this case, that bin Laden praises the hijackers, but never comes out and says “I did it” or “My group did it.”

Anyone know?

I believe there was a tape showing him talking to people saying that “their” intention was to just crash the planes into the buildings but never thought it would bring them down.

According to this cite, he openly admitted responsibility.

Bin Laden has never acknowledged any part in the attacks. In fact, the FBI has stated that there isn’t any evidence that points to Al Queda.

“In our investigation, we have not uncovered a single piece of paper - either here or in the treasure trove of information that has turned up in Afghanistan and elsewhere - that mentioned any aspect of the September 11 plot.”

Also, think about the speed at which the government released the names and photographs of the hijackers. I believe it was nearly the next day - AFTER the passenger manifests had been published without any of the names. There are more and more reports of the hijackers being misidentified because the person identified has shown up alive and well in their country. Now it seems we don’t even know who the hijackers are, nor do we have any proof that Bin Laden was behind it…

That is most certainly not what the article you linked to says.

The cite that DarrenS mentions does not contain Bin Laden makin a direct admission. He justifies the targets, praises the hijackers as blessed, but doesn’t actually state that he is behind the attacks. The author of the story seems to make the assumption for Bin laden. Ask someone in Hamas about 9/11 and you might get the same response.

acsenray, what are you talking about? I double checked the link and it contains the quote I posted.

Yes, it contains the quote you posted, but that quote is presented in the context of Al Qaeda success in concealing its methods and the story in no way says that, as you said, “the FBI has stated that there isn’t any evidence that points to Al Qaeda.” It simply does not say that.

Um, this is old news. There was a tape of ben Laden himself talking informally with a couple of other guys and saying something like “Praise Allah for we only expected the upper floors to be damaged but we did not expect the entire buildings would collapse so we got more than we expected”. It’s not like this is news. I do not think anybody seriously denies Al Qaeda was responsible for 9/11.

The smoking gun was a videotape of Osama bin Laden talking to a room of supporters in November 2002. Transcript here.

Let’s not forget the bin Laden aide who took credit.

Sorry, that should be November 2001.

“I do not think anybody seriously denies Al Qaeda was responsible for 9/11.” - I’m sorry but you’re wrong. There are plenty of people even questioning the existence of the hijackers - instead leaning more toward a remote-control possibility. One of their main points is that these mediocre pilots couldn’t have pulled off the military-quality bank and crash of the airplanes. While I’m not specifically supporting or disproving this assumption, please be aware that there are plenty of people questioning nearly everything we have been spoonfed about 9/11.

Of the ‘tape’ you mention Sailor, this is also not above reproach. There are some disturbing inconsistancies with this tape - notibly that Bin Laden is shown as a fatter man, with a wide nose. Comparing this to actual pictures of Osama raises questions.

There are plenty of crackpots, neo-nazis (yes, neo-nazis, believe it or not), fellow terrorists, terrorist sympathizers, and other generally evil people who need to be exterminated for the good of humanity who seriously believe as akrako1 does. However, no sane, worthwhile human being would believe such rubbish.

The money quote from Osama bin Laden on the November 2001 videotape:

Remote control? Alleged hijackers turning up alive? I’m sorry, that’s just crackpot nonsense.

What Dogface said.

When did “different lighting” become evidence of a fake Bin Laden?

Also the “military quality” of the plane bank is a joke. Remember that the second plane almost missed the tower (hitting at an angle) and the Pentagon plane actually hit the ground before the walls. It doesn’t take military training to crash a plane into a building. Try MS Flight simulator sometime.

There is no remote control system that could pull this off.

as far as the aide who took credit, that isn’t quite enough to convince me.
“The admission was made in an article he wrote for al-Qaida’s biweekly Internet magazine, Al-Ansar.”

The writer of this article seems to be a little lacking in his american history. See the following quote:
“Early warning: With the Sept. 11 attacks, al-Qaida entered the annals of successful surprise attacks, which are few in history – for example, the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941…”

Just like 9/11, we knew that Pearl Harbor was going to be attacked in 1941. We had broken the Japanese code. Roosevelt knew and didn’t alert the base. Ah, the lives we will gladly pay to get into a war…

Um…NO. Just because some people have doubts about the ‘official’ story does not make them any of these things. All it does is make them a bit more cynical and suspicious then the average.
It is nice of you to use indiscriminate generalisation and murder to impose your political beliefs on the rest of us though. Kind of like them terrorist folk.

Oh, and the John Birch Society is not a credible source of information.
