New Cafe Society Policy

Note : above link goes to an American Idol spoiler

There wasn’t a policy about spoilers before?

I think that you might want to advise anyone clicking on that link that it’s linking to a thread that spoils the ending of American Idol. I’m on Mountain time, and I really don’t give a flying wazoo about the show, but I thought maybe a warning would be appropriate.

Wait a minute…

Eutychus, I have the uptmost respect for you. First I ever heard of you was in the “don’t post complete song lyrics” thread… the way you handled that was beautiful. A work of sheer majesty. Truly skillful and a graceful, memorable close.

:::wipes nose clean:::

That being said… you inform us of THIS new policy, about NOT PUTTING SPOILERS IN THE TITLES OF THREADS (that’s for anyone who, like me, tried to find the policy in THIS thread without clicking on your link) by linking us… DIRECTLY TO A SPOILER. It’s at the top of the page in the link… first thing I looked at!

Granted, it’s American Idol. I couldn’t care less who won, without a frontal lobotomy.

Someone had to say it. q;}

He did write quite clearly that the link went to an American Idol spoiler.

That was the changed title. Look in the OP for the bolded first line. That was the original title.

Most amusing point Phnord.

um, Euty my blossom – you may want to make this a sticky? It was halfway down the page when I got here.

American what?

For people who don’t want to read the other thread, here’s what was said:

Can I get a ruling as to how long has to elapse between the event occuring?

For instance: As a thread title this would be very bad:

Ruben won.

But what about this thread title?

Question re: Yoda’s death in Return of the Jedi

You see what I mean? If you haven’t seen that movie by now, you’re probably not going to. :slight_smile:

Where should the line be drawn?

According to Eutychus (from the “Please Be Considerate with Spoilers” thread):

Abner Doubleday?

The Doubleday story is an urban legend

Yeah, I know that. It was a quote! :slight_smile:

Anyway, it was addressed in the other thread.

And it was a joke, even then.

Yeah, that’s what I figured. :slight_smile:

Omigod, smilies die when you highlight them!!

Or at least they’ve very unhappy.

Highlighting must be painful if you’re electronic.

When I highlight them, they turn Asian.

Please also remember the second post in the “Please Be Considerate with Spoilers” thread:

Has anyone noticed the happy-smiley-goes-to-pained-smiley effect before?

It’s odd, because, for the first time, when I hilighted a happy smiley I noticed it looked sad and then right after that there were several posts commenting upon it. I’m kind of surprised I never noticed it before.
