New Clinton Presidential portrait unveiled? What do you think?

Then, not now. He is about that thin these days.

“Hello sailor!”

Well, it looks like Clinton.
On the other hand, it looks like Ted Koppel, too.

His nose and cheeks seem a bit ruddy, too. Makes him look like an old alky, like a young W.C. Fields. Clinton was one of the more handsome presidents we’ve had in a while, this portrait doesn’t do him justice.

Dude… am I tripping out?

His … arm. It’s bloody gigantic. Diameter of his head.

It’s like he got a robotic appendage attached. He’s become President Bionic Arm.

Now that you’ve mentioned it…

damn, Bill’s got the arms of a world champion weightlifter. One of them, at least :dubious:

You know how to tell the difference between a portrait of Bill Clinton and a portrait of Ted Koppel, right? Koppel has his pants on.

Yeah, I’m with you here. Probably not the best it could be, or the most presidential, but then again, he *was *different.

Ted Kopple could hang that over his fireplace and nobody would ever know.

“Nice tie!”

No, an intern’s dress.

It looks like he’s pretending to be Jack McCoy from Law & Order, with the messed up hair and the open jacket.

I think it looks more like Darrel Hammond playing Clinton than it does Clinton. There’s the nod to the boomer crowd with the peace sign flash on the hip. All in all, too laid back for a presidential portrait, IMO, but again, he was different.

Don’t care for his, but quite like hers: Link. Can anyone find a better version of hers? I’d like to look at it more carefully.

can’t help thinking the newspaper is a deliberate snark at GWB, who’s notorious for not reading one himslef.

:massive bump:

I remembered this thread when I read the article today. The artist is now claiming that the shadow seen in the background is a reference the Lewinsky scandal.

Well, it’s a vague reference at best. Still, very odd.

*No giggling at the phrase “massive bump”

So the shadow is a reference to the Lewinsky scandal; did the artist mention the reason for the Incredible Hulk-sized bicep? It looks like the painting was unfinished and they got that old Spanish lady to touch up the arm.

Or why it’s in a portrait of Ted Koppel.

I wonder how the Clintons feel about that. If I were the artist I probably would have kept that information to myself a while longer.

I do like the idea of including a hidden reference in every Presidential portrait. Imagine the possibilities! Dubya’s portrait could have a place where invisible WMD’s magically appear if you scratch it with a penny.

If he wanted to paint in a shadow of Lewinsky the shadow would be on it’s knees.

Here’s People’s coverage of it. Not a very good portrait, I think, subliminal messages aside: http://www.people.com/article/bill-clinton-portrait-monica-lewinsky-dress-artist-says
