Our new Dell is going online hopefully tonight.
I’ve only brought a new one up from scratch once, several years ago. I have several favorites or bookmarks I want to transfer to the new one.
How do I do that?
There are also many bookmarks on the old computer that are no longer valid or I don’t want then anymore. How do I sort them?
Spam
This old computer is being overcome with spam.
Out of the 100 or so messages I am only interested in 4 or 5 of them. I have AVG that I just recently installed so the email virus scan takes forever. I am about to try the email scheduler disabler recently posted here. Can I get in trouble if I do it before I set up the new computer?

XP or Vista?A utility called FavOrg can be configured to delete invalid favorites. The ones you don’t want anymore will have to be deleted by hand.

This is vista.
Wow I can’t find anything. Got too used to the old one.

Go to Start>Accessories>System tools, and find a utility called Windows Easy Transfer. Using this tool, you can transfer files and settings, including favorites via an Easy Transfer Cable, a flash drive, a CD-R or DVD-R, an external USB hard drive, or over a local area network.

I don’t have any of those; would a floppy do, or could the favourites be sent as an e-mail attachment? I want to transfer my favourites from the university network to my home computer. I’m on XP and IE.

If all you want is your favorites, on the XP computer, right click on Start, select Explore, then navigate to My Computer>Local Drive C:>Documents and Settings>[User Name]>Favorites. Right click on the Favorites folder, select Send To, then select **Floppy Drive A: **/. There should be plenty of room on a floppy for your favorites.
When you get home on the Vista computer, right click on Start, select Explore, then navigate to Desktop>[User Name]>Favorites. Copy the contents of the Favorites folder from the floppy into the Favorites folder on your new computer. Open a new browser, and you should be able to see your old favorites.
