New DoperPET (yes, pictures; no, not a kitteh)

I’m not very good with names, but what beautiful, dramatic coloring, and that cute little baby snake face. ::squee::

ETA: A zookeeper friend has large snakes and feeds them frozen rats (yes, there’s such a thing, don’t ask about when the power went out for three days), what does a little guy like this eat?

The Great Cornholio

Legs
Fluffy
Funzo

What a cutie!

Oranjello.

Cornelius? (see what I did there?) He’s very spiffy, BTW!

Kandy

He looks like a Chester (or Cheeto).

I pusillanimously submit, “Snake! Run!”

Plissken

I was going to chime in with the others that have suggested Smaug, but when I saw this I thought “Yes!”

I second Plissken.:stuck_out_tongue:

Angel. The markings on his head look like an angel, with a sort of v-shped neckline, and the wings above his shoulders.

Also, he has fangs.

Aw he’s cute!

Flake or Fritter
Very cute snake; now I want a snake.

Cecil Adams

On his aquarium you simply must hang a sign that says “The Corn Crib”.

My ball python is named “Snakey-Snake”, not to be confused with my OTHER ball python named “Snakey-Snake”, neither of which is related to the rats both named “Ratty-Rat” (to me, anyway- my wife has other names for them).

But beyond that, I’ll third “Plissken”.

Pinkies e.g. newborn or day-old mice. Which you can buy frozen, too, in any quantity you like!

Nerdy facts: Corn snakes can eat very small eggs, and hunt lizards and similar sized prey in the wild, too, in addition to raiding mouse and bird nests.

Since I already maintain a small breeding population of rodents called African soft-furred rats, to feed my existing ball python, obtaining pinkies is trivially easy for me, and they’re only very slightly larger than mice.

I’ve seen the huge snakes your friend has - probably Burmese and/or reticulated pythons a.k.a. berms and 'tics. They’re super cool looking, and generally docile given their sheer strength … my biggest hesitation is how I’d care for an animal that I can’t physically lift or move.

Wellllllll. Then again, sulcata tortoises are on my “when I have more money than I know what to do with” wish list, and owning an adult essentially equates to caring for a boulder with feet.

If your corn snake ever refuses to eat, offer an anole. They love them. Pet stores will sell “imperfect” anoles (missing a limb or tail) cheap.

,
Our sulcata, Kjell* is a year old. He was 45 grams when we got him shortly after hatching. He is now 88 grams. He is amazing to watch.

*****Pronounced “Shell”, he was named after Kjell Samuelsson, a Penguin hockey dude from back in the day.

regaliz… what is this red candy called in English?
