New Dr Seuss Book for kids

My birthday shopping list is set for the next year. I’ll be pre-ordering six copies for various relatives & friends kids.

Dr. Seuss is such a special treat for kids. Besides, it gets me off the shopping hook for awhile. It’s something I know they haven’t read yet. I still have my original Dr. Seuss books from the early 70’s in a closet somewhere. I must have literally read them over a hundred times as a kid.

The seven stories have been published before, but never in book form. They appeared in magazines in 1950 and 1951, the publisher says.

Seuss scholar Charles D. Cohen tracked down the stories, whose fantastical illustrations will have more vibrant colors in the book than were possible in the 1950s magazines, according to Random House.

I’ve been enjoying reading Seuss to my two-year-old, but only have a couple of omnibuses. I am a bit embarrassed to admit that I can’t get through Oh, the Places You’ll Go! (new to me, of course) without choking up.

I thought you were referring to:

“The Bear, the Rabbit, and the Zinniga-Zanniga” (about how a rabbit fends off a bear with an unusual weapon)

Or photocopies or scheming cats tricking ducks into making bad decisions.

Still cool though, can’t wait to get it (Dudeling is a year and a half, just entering prime Seuss territory!).

One of the perks of having a daughter is buying for her this kind of cool stuff. A month ago I found ‘Lead Belly sings to Children’, though I might have picked it up sans children.
