The thing is, I get that. I really do. Just that for the most part that is supplemental to what is actually happening in the episode. Most of the toing and froing of the past two episodes could have been replaced by just about anything. The episodes themselves were poor but the reveal at the end was cool.
Basically, good idea for a running storyline but failure on getting decent episodic stories.
IIRC, the Doctor stuck his hand into the goo when he still had his regular shoes on. It was only later that he walked through acid and had to replace his shoes - but the Doctorganger grew the pair of shoes he’d been wearing when he was initially scanned.
My biggest beef with this series so far is just that it’s been so damned DARK. I could really use an injection of light, silly humor right about now. This show has always mixed its elements very effectively, but this series has been all doom and gloom from start to finish.
I have to agree with this. I mean, basically the whole season (or maybe even before), Amy has been trapped by monsters, forcibly impregnated, and made to control a doppelganger version of herself unbeknownst to her husband. Yikes? I am ready for some wacky, silly Doctor Who for a while, please.
Well, someone blurted out some possible spoilers on the comments section in one of the youtube videos of the trailer. According to this person, the babies’ name is…
The finale should be really good. I don’t expect the Doctor to get too violent. He doesn’t have an Armory with plasma rifles & cannon in the Tardis.
Even the 10th Doctor wanted to wimp out in Stolen Earth/Journeys End. He planned to let Davros and all those Daleks live. Eventually they would have conquered everything and exterminated entire species. It took the Doctor clone to set things right and kill the Daleks.
I agree that it’s time to lighten up. I’m getting frustrated with the dark episodes too. If things don’t change next season, then I’ll probably stop watching.
Well she was, what, five billion years in the future? That would be like us using caveman tools.
ETA: I don’t think they ever said specifically when this story took place, but I assumed it was in the relatively near future. Like 22nd, 23rd century.
If they switched shoes – which I’m not convinced they did – that’d mean the ‘real’ Doctor is still wearing a part of the flesh Doctor. Molecular memory, huh?
Also, there definitely were more than one sonic around. Has it been established the Doctor’s got a couple spares? I always thought it was just the one…
FWIW I thought EyePatch lady looked really like River too - not quite enough to check (the addition of the eye patch was enough of a giveaway) but enough to be mistaken in the quick glances we’re getting of her!
I don’t think that The Flesh copying clothes is a big deal. If it was, you could just grab a piece of their clothing and if it turns to goo they’re not ‘real’.
Once its created, it’s a real thing. The shoes are no longer Flesh fake shoes, they’re leather and rubber.
Now, what will happen if The Doctor uses his sonic on his shoes…well…who the hell knows?
