New England Dopers ...

Why I am just so proud of you all and so thankful you’ve given up such amazing opportunities like video gaming and lawn mowing! sniff

PS - what video game?

Oops, missed the replies on preview. I can do either potato or pasta salad, so I’ll leave that up to Jack to pick which one he wants to bring. Which probably means I’m mowing my own lawn. Damn.

I’m all about easy.

I concede the tater salad and will instead bring a bucket of pasta salad.

… Video Game of choice lately: EA Sports MVP Baseball, or failing that Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002.

I wonder if I shop at the same store as Salem (whose name always confuses me as she does not live in Salem!).

When I go to the store for my salad greens, I’ll look for a woman pushing a cart full of potatoes, and I’ll walk around the produce section muttering SDMB catchphrases. It would be much easier, of course, if she wore the ex’s antlers.

As tanookie knows, I went to the farm stand last night to buy salad stuff – only to discover that the only thing that they have locally grown is fiddleheads. (Duh, seasons? What are they? :smack: ) Although I love fiddleheads, I don’t think they make a good salad.

Screwed me up too Lily - I thought she lived in Salem as well - alas.

Aaah fiddleheads. They’re only in season for a week or two anyway. People always flunked those little suckers when it came time for the produce test

Woohoo! Jack’s coming! Someone I know.

I’m very psyched for tomorrow. I’m so looking forward to getting away from home for a day.

I know the name is confusing once you know I live in MA, but not in Salem, MA. It’s also one of those gender neutral names. I guess I just subconsciously like to wreak havoc in people’s minds. I mean cause so many people actually pay attention to what I have to say and all. Huh? Was someone talking?

So the Ghiardelli Chocolate Chocolate Chip Brownies are baked. And the potatoes are boiling. It was near disaster. I can’t find my very best potato peeler. I looked high and low and even in the middle and it’s nowhere to be found. After trying two incredibly inferior potato peelers (and realizing I have way too many of the things and no idea where they all came from), I was able to locate a halfway decent one and get through the job. But it is not my very best potato peeler, the one with the textured, built-up rubber handle that fits so perfectly into the palm of my hand and the fine blade mechanism that glides through the potato peels like a well-oiled body on a hot…well, anyway you get the idea. I need my very best potato peeler.
And it’s supposed to rain tomorrow and be in the low 60’s in haverhell, according to weatherchannel.com. Unfortunately, they are pretty accurate.

:: wakes up to thunder of little cat feet in pre-breakfast frenzy; oozes out of bed; shuffles to drapes covering slider to deck; pulls them open ::

AIEEEEEE!!! WETNESS IS UPON THE LAND, AND RAIN DOTH AFFLICT US!!! IN THE LAND OF HAVERHELL THE PEOPLE GNASH THEIR TEETH AND REND THEIR GARMENTS!!!

Oh, well. At least we’ll be gnashing our teeth on some fine potato salad and pasta salad and brownies and…

Should I bring the cribbage board?

Damn that weather channel and their accuracy.

It’s pouring here, as well. Well, I’m still planning to be there around 1pm, maybe a bit earlier since lawn mowing is now out. With the humidity, my hair should arrive about a half hour before me.

I’m on my way out the door now. I’m imagining that if I find it well I should be there shortly after 1.

I’m leaving in about ten, and should be there shortly before 1.

Wooooo-hooooooo!!! That was fun! Good people, good conversation, good eats – what more could a Doper want?

Bummer that I had to leave a little after 3:00 for another obligation, but I’ll be back for the next Dopefest for sure.

THANK YOU TANOOKIE AND ALL FOR A GREAT TIME!!!

Definitely good food and good folks. Thanks for having us!

You’re all very welcome  The only thing I would have really changed is the weather!

Thanks for the great day. You have faces!

The real question is: did anyone find a white flannel receiving blanket with bees? Hmm…that might make a good sig for me – “I lost my blanket at the DopeFest!”*

  • Okay, technically it’s ValleyGirl’s blanket, but that doesn’t have quite the same ring to it.

We have your blanket! If you email me your address I can pop it in the mail

I had a great time (except for getting lost on the way there); I enjoyed meeting you all and thanks for the righteous grub!

We gotta do it again sometime.

And really expensive plastic horses. $50 for a plastic horse? What the hell? My best friend dragged me in there right before Christmas. Not liking horses, I was less than impressed

It was really nice to meet everyone. It was a fun afternoon and I do hope we can do it again in the not too distant future. Thanks for hosting, tanookie and parallax. And ETF, my daughter was really thrilled with the horse stuff, especially the bridle. Thanks so much, that was really nice of you. Jake hasn’t tried to saddle up the dog…yet.

Well, I just got home, but that’s because I took a small detour to visit andygirl on my way home, and got sucked into watching a movie and other general festivities.

Anyway, I had a great time meeting folks. Salem, your daughter was great entertainment!

So, huzzah for tanookie and parallax. I’m hoping this will be the start of a more active New England doper community.
