New Fall Network TV shows

Yeah, this popped up in one of my sitcom blocks. After watching one episode, oofa, this steaming pile is no longer part of that block on my DVR. Just awful.

I’m also thinking of checking out Gotham.

Not Gracepoint, though. Tennant’s American accent is…weird.

Oh, who am I kidding. I might just watch it with the sound off. I <3 David T.

Saw part of the 2nd episode, as much as I could stand. Never bought her as a detective, or her in a police precinct.

There was a scene where she was trying to ID a victim by the underwear she had bought. Her and her partner go into the boutique, ask the clerk for help and get a not-so-snotty ‘I’ll be with you in a minute’. Laura then loudly says she has a crotch rash from trying the underwear there and clears the place out.

Then she shows her badge and gets snotty with the clerk as if the clerk had done something wrong. *But she hadn’t shown the badge when she first asked for help!!

  • All the clerk could have assumed was that she a buttinsky trying to take time away from another customer on a busy day.

Sounds like she’s a cop who doesn’t play by the rules. No doubt her Captain will be taking her off a lot of cases even though she knows in her gut that the perp is guilty. But she needs to come back to him with some evidence dammit.

I’m looking forward to Bad Judge. Kate Walsh can be very funny, and I like the premise. I hope it’s good.

It gets even worse-her captain is her newly ex-husband(divorce papers signed in the 2nd episode).

shrug It was actually very funny. And the comment on the mixed race wife was not exactly celebrating the POV of the person who was making it.

Oh, calling it stupid is too kind. I lost track of all the twists and stupid plot lines in the first hour and I honestly don’t care about any of the characters. Needless to say, I won’t watch again.

Its far, far worse.
The new Captain is her ex-husband. They share custody. The kids are often in the precinct. Eating pizza and getting quality parent time amongst the perps.

I thought it was at least OK and didn’t find the comment about the mixed-race wife offensive. The conceit is that the lead character (the father of the family) is worried that his African-American family has forgotten its roots. (There is an opening monologue that mentions how Robin Thicke and Justin Timberlake are hip-hop music stars, Kim Kardashian the current exemplar of a woman with a big butt and Asians are dancing well on reality TV competition shows. His point is that those were all things formerly dominated by black people.)

Me, too. Loved Ioan Gruffudd since Hornblower.

Thanks to you guys, I’ll give Constantine and Gracepoint a try,
Watched the 2 first episodes of ‘‘Gotham’’: I liked the show, not love, but worth watching longer.
‘‘How to get away with murder’’, a bare maybe. I’ll tape and watch one more episode, just in case.
Watched 1 and a half episode of ‘‘The Mysteries of Laura’’: god-awful, messy, characters that would be irritating even if they were more developed; full of moments that make you groan, the worst I’ve seen yet.
‘‘Scorpion’’: uninteresting.

There’s a lot to dislike about the show, but the biggest is how blatantly bad parents Laura and her ex are. Just unforgivably, unrepetentedly bad.

Can I borrow your time machine?

How to Get Away with Murder Ep1:

Bizarre. Maybe just bizarre enough to make it. Interesting in a way, but full of People Doing Things You Can’t Do In Real Life. And I don’t mean doctors doing lab tests like on medical shows. I mean going away to jail for the rest of your life stuff. Suspension of disbelief is going to be off the chart on this one.

Viola Davis is a great actress. Did a very good job for the most part. But in one scene she was really overdoing it. So I thought she was doing a fake out thing. But apparently not. That was disappointing.

And it has the young guard from OITNB.

I didn’t much care for “Gotham,” but I’ll give it another shot.

I thought “black-ish” was extremely funny.

So far sticking with Gotham and I liked Blackish. Funnier than I expected.

“How to Get Away With Murder” was better than I expected. Viola Davis is enjoyable to watch. They REALLY REALLY WANT YOU TO REMEMBER THERE’S A STATUETTE WITH BLOOD ON IT. I don’t know that I’ll stick with it, but I’ll watch another episode.

Yup, and yup.

Saw two utterly dreadful sitcoms tonight: Selfie and Manhattan Love Story. Two rom-coms with women who are both stupid and obnoxious. What year is this?
