Hey all-
I’ve been using Netzero for free internet service and like it quite a bit. Today I downloaded a new free ISP called Freei Networks. If anyone is interested, I’ll post and let you know which one works better (In my opinion anyway)
To download either or both of these, go to these websites: http://www.netzero.comhttp://www.freei.net
There is also a free service through Alta Vista, but it doesn’t work on Windows NT (which I use) so I don’t know how it is.
Just trying to help out anyone else who hates paying for internet service

Thanks Zette. Let me know how Freei Networks works out for ya.
I’ve been using NetZero for about a month, and the only complaint I have (a minor one) is that stupid killtimer that seems to pop up every thirty minutes or so. I must not be reacting to the banner ads fast enough…
NetZero still beats the ever-loving shit out of AOL, but so does wiring an Etch-A-Scetch to a TV antenna.
With Netzero you can get rid of the banner ad stuff with a patch. ANother way that works is doing a cont-alt-del select all the Netzero crap & close it except for the connection part. I read you have to close some of the same things 3 times. ack
Handy- thanks for the tip about Freepc.com. I’ll check that one out, too.
In Windows NT you can’t close the Netzero banner, but maybe it can be done in 98. Dont’ know…
So far, I’m liking freeei.net pretty good. My husband prefers it, but I still need time to decide…
Well, here’s my field report:
I like the Freei Networks better. The banner is smaller (You can choose if you want a big long banner that pushes your browswer down on your screen, or a little one that “floats”)
The ads seems less distracting to me. The killtimer goes off much less frequently then Netzero. Netzero’s killtimer seems to go off about every 30 minutes regardless if you’re using the web or not. Freei only goes off if you aren’t using the web for quite a while.
