Okay, I’m in the rooms with the tubes and such.
I have the pen and paper. I’ve gotten the green and blue sprockets on the tubes. Where do I go to write on my piece of paper?!?
OK, am I on the right track on thinking that the piece of wood isn’t used in the three-room suite? Are there a lot of red herrings in this area? That hand painting, for instance.

you have to arrange the tiles in the other room so the rat head follows the line to the hole on the other side. You then have to use your diskette box to trap the rat. The rat will follow lines, so you put it on the tiles and then close the bridge.

take the log to the machine and place it on the holder. Hit the switch and light the log. Take it back to the fireplace and light the fire. The temp rises so the heater shuts off taking up less power. The machine will now be at full power. Take the metal circuit board from the security box thingy and put it on the machine. It cuts it into pieces that need to be arranged in the security box.
Same here, I’m stuck in the fireplace room that everybody else seems to have breezed by.

Argily-book! Ok, skittles (or anyone else who can help a horribly stupid person on getting past the first room):
From the beginning the walkthrough is: click on pillow, click on key, use key to open locker, click on box, click on screwdriver, click on painting, click on poster, click on poster again, click on door. What comes next, or am I off somewhere? Me know, me dumbo.
After a 2 hour break, chalk me up as one who has completed this. Not a bad little diversion.

I’m stuck in the room with the motorcycle now. Any help from anyone?
It’s a bit sketchy, but
you need to go into the other room, there’s a trapdoor under the carpet. The tiles are a puzzle. You have to get them all down at the same time. The door opens. You will need the firehose to lower yourself down, but you need light! Get the batteries from the radio, and the lightbulb from the motorcycle and fix the flashlight. Go down the trapdoor and get the key. Let me know if I missed anything.
