New Game: The jaunty drive into work.

I don’t really care if anyone knows who I really am, or where I live, so I conceived of this fun game.

I will post directions on how I get to work, and you all will tell me where, if YOU followed these directions, you would end up.

So the Mods don’t get weirded out, NO posting of addresses, cities, or workplaces. Just tell me where you’d be if you followed my drive into work. When that’s old, we can plot other people’s routes against our locations.

Begin.

1 block east
1/2 mile south
5 miles west
4 miles north
6 miles west
15 miles north
2 blocks east
2 blocks north

I’m now sitting in my work parking lot.

Where would YOU be?

–Tim

Well… it LOOKS like you just dunked me into the river, took me jetskiing for a couple miles, then launched me out far into a farmer’s field where I’d imagine a skydiving school is somewhere nearby.

It was a rather surreal ride to say the least.

haha…

Lets see… the first couple steps were ok… I went along a sea-wall that is walk only, then zipped down a main street for the 1/2 miles south, the westward direction had me floating in the ocean a couple miles off shore (after first going through a large island) and the trip northward had me island-hopping for a while. 6 miles west put me in open ocean and the next few steps just put me farther out to sea.

Yay!

You’re right, Havoc. Very surreal.

I actually had to get out a street map for this one.
You dropped me right in the middle of a cemetery. How morbid.

I would do this, but I live out in the county, therefore I have no concept of a “block” But, say, 18.5 miles north and 11 west…I’ll check a map, and come back with an answer.

Very interesting, and humorous, so far.

Gunslinger, a block is 1/8th of a mile, in most places.

–Tim

Not very far. After “1/2 mile south”, I would be in a car rapidly sinking into the Gulf Of Mexico.

'course this activity is from Homer, the one who brought us the “Donkey Punch” as a leisure activity.

ROFL!!

That’s just hillarious.

Just checking up on my threads before bed, and, BluePony, ROFLOL! That was hilarious.

I’ve noticed that almost everyone whose posted so far lives very, very close to water.

Blub-blub, blub-blub, gurgle-blub.*

*Posted from the bottom of the Persian Gulf.

Yeah, what ChiefScott said – I’d be in Lake Erie after “4 miles north.”

Let’s see…I wouldn’t be in water.

I’d be somewhere in the middle of Olney, Maryland. In the middle of a softball field, I think.

Welp, you killed me right from the get go. That 1 block East doesn’t work when my street runs north/south. So if we are paying surreal, i just made my neighbors kitchen into a drive-thru. Hmmm, 1/2 mile south just put me smack dab in the middle of the local hospital. Good job, since i’m gonna need it along with a bunch of other people before this Trip is done. 5 mile West. Egads, now he has me driving through a huge river. Good thing i have 4-wheel drive. 4 miles north, up the river, good thing i got the amphibious option on this here truck. 6 miles west, through the local shopping mall, really pissed off the shoppers that time. 15 miles north puts me smack dab in the middle of a State Forest. 2 blocks east and 2 blocks north. No difference, still sitting in the middle a State Forest.

Cool road trip, we’ll have to bring beer next time.

Step number one…engage Jeep 4WD.

Climb halfway up the Short Hill Mountain.
Annoy my neighbor the corn farmer.
Watch him shoot at me. (Love those Virginians!)
Watch me abandon my hopes of doing this ‘by the book’ and hit Route 9!

All in all I think I’d end up somewhere in Berryville VA having crossed the Shenandoah River at least once, stopped to read the historical markers (Jubal Early went this way? I didn’t know they had Jeeps back then…)

Finally I end up in Berryville in the Blue Ridge mountains right near Berryville Press where the new Harry Potter book was printed!

Alright Homer. You just put me “Way down Yonder on the Chatahoochee, where it gets hotter than a …” well, you know.

BTW Chance, count me in on the Jeep thing!

I’d be in the middle of Lake Champlain. However, seeing as how I would have driven into the lake at 5 Miles east, it’s doubtful I would have gotten all the way to 2 blocks north. They just don’t make American cars like they used to.

Let’s see… digs out the map of the state that the previous occupant of TMR’s office left behind

Following those directions would put me in the middle of a lake in northern Massachusetts. The Troutmobile would be a total loss and cops from at least a half-dozen jurisdictions would be clamoring for my blood.

I’d be out in BFE! At 5 miles west I would be driving through a farmer’s field!! After 4 miles north and 6 miles west I would be driving on the railroad tracks. After that it’s all BFE!

  1. Main North South Street. Cool so Far.
  2. A very busy intersection! Good!
  3. Hm, ignoring the funeral home I’d plow through, and various and sundry other buildings I’d demolish, I’d end up halfway to the suburbs.
  4. Oops. Forest/wilderness/farmland.
  5. Ditto.
  6. We’d pass a town or two, but still be out in the sticks.
  7. Somewhere in the back forty of someone’s farm, I think.

Not nearly as fun as going East Instead of West, I’d end up in the north end of the resevoir.

I am currently sinking in the North Arm of Shuswap Lake.

For gods sake…some on e help me!!!

{muttering to self as the car’s antenna slips beneath the surface…“stupid game”}
