How’s the new job, yojimbo? And did you crazy kids have fun last night?
Thx all for the good thoughts
Well guess what I did on my first day in I.T. Support?
I took the whole morning trying to set the comp. up then went for a break and the fucker blew up
Now I’m setting up my 2nd comp of the day and trying to learn how to use these split keyboards. errr.
Good day , apart from the comp. problems though.
ToF I’ll mail you tomorrow as I’m up to my 'nads here.
How are micilin and Pergau as bosses? Did you ask them if I could work there to make it all sitcom-like? Hey, I do have computer skills, ask Globey!
I’m so glad your first day went well, besides the whole blow up thing. Sometimes computers just do that out of the blue, it’s to keep you on your toes!
Holy Smoke ! Yojimbo, what’s the I.T. in ‘I.T. Support’ stand for, Incendiary Technology ?
Accommodation, yes. No, not on the ball, yet. Will explore the options this week…err…what are they ?? Last I recall is that we’re coordinating. Did quickly glance through something and noticed a reasonable place run by an Irish woman but I have’t yet looked further. 2 months today…I think. Hooray !
I sent out a list of hotels/hostels for everyone to look at and decide. I saw the same place run by an Irishwoman, but do you think all of our EuroDoperFests are getting a wee bit dominated by things Irish? Why don’t we find a nice Portuguese run hotel or something?
It is two months today, isn’t it? My goodness, we’ve got to get things organized.
Note: Once I actually get there, I relax enormously. I’m just big into planning things.
Ahh the first day over.
Anybody who’s interested may see a fall off in my posting for a while as the new house I’ve moved into has no land line at the mo. so I’ll just be here during breaks etc. for the time being. I’ll still be checking my mail regulary so keep in touch
And hibernicus here’s a link to the MCHawkings songs we were telling you about last night http://www.mchawking.com/music.html
cya later. I’m off home now to unpack and get my new romm in order
‘Incendiary Technology’ Hee hee! The look on yoj’s face when the computer died was priceless by the way. We’re thinking of holding onto that 'puter for when TOFjoins…
Tater, somehow, I think if yojimbo is going to tell you how me and pergau are as bosses it’ll be by email (though you never know there might be a great big Pit thread any day now).
I’m sure you’ll be wonderful bosses and he won’t hold that Tabasco sauce incident against you. Oh wait, you’re the boss! Let me know if you need me to send anything.
Oooh, I know lots of jokes to play on new tech people…my Daddy taught me well. E-mail me one day, 'kay?
My employers have blocked the MCHawking site, so it’ll have to wait till I get home! Hope it’s worth the effort.
BTW I walked home on Sunday night. Turns out there are no Nitelinks on Sunday. Arrived home at nearly 2 am with blisters on my heels. There’s nothing like having drunk six pints of Guinness to make you think it’s a good idea to set out to walk six miles with no coat on a frosty night! Still, no harm done. I must say having met my fellow Dublin Dopers for the first time, you’d go a long way to find more entertaining drinking partners. Roll on Amsterdam!
Holy crap. It was freezing on Sun. night. I got a taxi in about 10mins after jumping ahead of the queue coz ToF was already in it. You’re a hardier man than me, that’s for sure.
MChawking is most definatly worth it. The creationist song is my personal fav. but they’re all good. Enjoy.
You people dont know what cold is.
T-shirt weather out there right now.
Oh and you call that snow? The whole country comes to a standstill?
When I were a lad…
Anyhow. I understood the nitelinks were continuing to run at 12.30 and 2am on Sundays Hibernicus.
Sorry to break this to you but you might now have to be walking like that for the next week.
t-shirt weather? back in my day there were 126 of us in a cardboard box, eating cold gravel with barely an arse in the back of our trousers.
Luxury!
Yeah, I thought so too, but when I went along to the 44N bus stop the timetable said “No Sunday service”.
Not inconceivable that the information was out of date…
There’s talk of a nominination for Best Fiction in the Bookers this year for the Dublin Bus timetable.
Eeeehhhhhh? You had gravel? When I were a lad, we used to have to make do with half an ounce of phlegm every second Sunday, or twice a week when Grandpa had emphysema… And that was luxury, them days.
Gravel? Pah.
