No, he didn’t.
Duderdude2: It only seems blatant because they’re doing humans, and trying to make them look realistic. You want to know why Jurassic Park was realistic? Because we’ve never seen dinosaurs before with our own eyes.
IMO, the CGI in Reloaded was pretty mind-blowing.
Also:
The trailer can really rock like a magicist.
The trailer can really play that rock 'n roll!
Rock over London, rock over Chicago!
Timex: It takes a lickin’, and keeps on tickin’!
That’s not a very good argument. If they’re unable to produce a realistic looking human, then it shouldn’t have been attempted. I felt it disrupted the movie’s flow, thus damaging the overall experience.
Duderdude2, the special effects for Metropolis look downright stupid by today’s standards. Are you saying that because they couldn’t do them realisticly, they should not have been attempted? If Metropolis was never made we’d probably just be getting around to giant robotic sharks by now.
Acherner
The Architect seems to be saying that this is Zion v.6.0 and that it is tied to The Matrix, that it is also a computer-generated world. If not, then what is the significance of this scene?
Yes, the Architect claims that Zion has been rebuilt before, or at least repopulated. However, that’s not the same as saying that it’s a simulation. It could just as easily be a city in the real world.
As for the significance of the scene, I think it’s much too great to get into here.
Thanks for the input, Achernar. I hope the next film is a tad clearer on what the heck is going on.
friedo, don’t put words into my mouth. Anyways, when the producers of the Matrix films are hyping the effects to essentially be the best ever created (an article in wired claimed the CG was seamless), then one would and should expect the FX to be perfect. And with a budget of 300 million dollars, there really didn’t seem to be much reason why they shouldn’t be.
Furthermore, Metropolis was made during an era where the effects implemented were revolutionary. There wasn’t much room to complain given the technical limitations of the time.
Duderdude2, there isn’t much room to complain given the technical limitations of today with Matrix Reloaded today, either. Show me 101 humans simulated on film more realistically. In the field of realistic humans, it is the best ever, at least with the number of humans involved and the length of the animation, as far as I know.
As for plot speculation on Revolutions:

I’m not saying it’s not impressive? What I’m saying is that it’s not nearly as impressive as it was made out to be. And I firmly believe had even more time been spent on it, the results would have reflected that.

Argggh, why won’t this misunderstanding die? The images on the monitors were not of the earlier Ones. They represent the choices that Neo has to respond to the Architect. This is obvious because after Neo sees the monitors, one giving the Architect the finger, another throwing up his hands in frustration, etc. he says “The problem is choice”.
Doesn’t it seem strange to think that all of the Ones look exactly like Neo?
UnuMondo
Okay, sure. But nothing is ever perfect. If everything was agnoized over for long enough, everything could be made better.
Heck, show me one human simulated on film more realistically. I don’t know anything about CGI, but it seems just from watching CGI films and FMV that human faces is the hardest thing to do. Why do you think so many Pixar films are about toys or bugs or fish?
I know something about CGI (one of my many interests is 3d art) and human faces are pretty hard. Again, though, it’s not really because of complexity. When you see an object every single day of your life, a reproduction of that object that’s even the slightest bit off will look wrong.
Final Fantasy’s Aki Ross is more convining in photographs than the Matrix’s Neo.
Now, I know you’re going to say that you had the real actor to compare Neo too. But even if you just look at a freeze frame, you can tell there’s just something not quite right with Neo. Also, it’s not just his physical attributed that alluded to the obvious CG, but also the absurd animation. Yes, I know it’s in the Matrix and they can do things you can’t in real life, but when compared to the rest of the movie’s non-CG stunts, Neo just moves very unlifelike.
