New Mighty Mouse Comic Book: ick

New Mighty Mouse comic book from Dynamite. Fun cover, fun splash page. MM socks it to a cat in a giant robot suit. Cool!

Cut to the opening of the story, and it begins with realistic art of a school-kid suffering a nasty bullying incident.

I tore the comic in half.

School bullying is NOT entertaining, and Mighty Mouse (for gosh sake!) is supposed to be light and fun.

I poked around online and found 3 or 4 really positive reviews and one so-so review.

Apparently the art style is part of the story-telling scheme:[

](Comic Book Review: Mighty Mouse #1 – Nerds on the Rocks)Don’t know what to tell you about the story; comics have a long history of being morality plays.

For personal reasons, I really hate school bullying stories.

But, doggone it, I wanted a Mighty Mouse story, not a “Joey” story. So, in my humble opinion, fuck them for publishing this trash.

It wasn’t great, but not terrible either. I’ll pick up #2 and see how that goes. In case you’re wondering, at the end of the comic

Mighty Mouse pops out of the tv world and into Joey’s living room

Yeah, there is a trend to take old comics in a “different” direction. Have you heard about the upcoming reboot of Snagglepuss?
